READ Ex-Militant Leaders Reaction To Boroh‬’s Appointment As Amnesty Programme Boss

Former leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) have hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment of retired Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh, as the coordinator, Amnesty Programme and special adviser on Niger Delta to the president.
Reacting to the appointment on Wednesday, July 29, the ex-MEND leaders, under the aegis of the Leadership, Peace, and Cultural Development Initiative (LPCDI)‎, said though the appointment was delayed, it is welcomed and commendable, Sahara Reporters reports.
“We welcomed the news of the appointment with happiness. It is more gratifying to know that the new appointee is from the region and from Bayelsa State,” the ex-MEND leaders said.
They added that the appointment would resolve the concern raised by the people of the Niger Delta region over the hitches in the amnesty program and payment of outstanding allowances and scholarship fees.
In his reaction, the spokesman of Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Mr Eric Omare, who spoke to NAN, commended the president for responding to the plight of the Niger Delta people.
According to him, it goes to show that present administration was sensitive to the aspirations of the region.
He therefore called on Boroh to take steps in ensuring the outstanding tuition fees and allowances of beneficiaries, especially those studying abroad are paid.
Also speaking, the Niger Delta Coordinator of Artisan Fishermen Association of Nigeria, Rev. Samuel Ayadi applauded Boroh’s appointment.
He called on him to look into the problems of the Niger Delta region, especially the many pending oil spill compensations.
President Muhammadu Buhari was commended for appointing on Tuesday Brigadier-General Paul T. Boroh (rtd.) as the Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme for former Niger Delta militants.
The former coordinator of the amnesty programme, Kingsley Kuku, also commended the president for appointing Boroh as his successor.
On learning of the new appointment, Kuku, who spoke from his hospital in America described Boroh as a seasoned administrator and soldier, for the post, hailing the president for not entrusting the office in the hands of a politician.
Since Buhari took over power on May 29, the Niger Delta people have been calling on him to look into their plight. The ex-militants, who study abroad under the scholarship programme of the federal government amnesty initiative, had lamented their unpaid allowances and called on the government to address the problem.
Chief Edwin Clark had also urged the president to take the Niger-Delta amnesty programme seriously as it has a way of affecting the nation.

President Buhari Praises Mbaka For Standing Up For Truth During Last Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended fiery Catholic priest, Ejike Mbaka, for his patriotism in the run-up to the 2015 general elections, saying his courage has earned him a mark in the sands of time.
In a statement Thursday to congratulate the leader of the Adoration Ministries Enugu, Nigeria, on the occasion of his 20th priestly ordination, the President said history would favour Mr. Mbaka for courageously speaking truth to power, even at great risks.
In the statement signed by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Buhari said Mr. Mbaka chose the part of honesty, despite realising that it could attract hostility from those he described as “leaders detached from reality”.
The President said the priest’s courageous actions, while the Peoples Democratic Party was still in power, was clear evidence that religious leaders are the custodian of truth and morals in society.
He said Mr. Mbaka’s decision to identify with the masses, and uphold the struggle for improved governance was enviable.
According to the statement, the President was extremely impressed by the priest’s sincere comments and patriotic disposition over the state of the nation at the time.
The statement prayed God to grant Mr. Mbaka greater wisdom, good health and long life, as well as a continued resolve to serve humanity.
Father Mbaka had on December 31, 2014, told Nigerians to use the then approaching general election to vote then President Goodluck Jonathan out.

Diezani Alison-Madueke Sick

Former minister of Petroleum resources, Dieziani Alison-Madueke is currently ill and at a UK hospital receiving treatment. A family member revealed this to Leadership Newspaper.
"Our daughter has been in hospital where is receiving treatment for some weeks now. She is currently under close medical observation. We learnt that the observation means that she has been unable to see anyone outside close family members over the last few weeks.
They have also discouraged her use of phones to avoid any risk of infection which will be extremely harmful for her. Diezani is responding well, but doctors are concerned about her movement and interaction given the intense treatment being administered. It is such an emotional time for us all as she is quite fragile and we are careful to keep her away from all the gossip and falsehoods being attributed to her in the media. We expect the media to respect the family’s feelings at this trying time. The press, especially online media, should be careful to be professional and balanced in their reporting,”the source said

Dead Woman “Withdraws” N500k from Bank in Lagos (Photo)

Mrs Cordelia Iwegbuna Idowu Okocha, died of breast cancer, at the age of 50 on August 7, 2004, and was buried in September 2004. What is certainly news and shocking too, is that four years after her death, she ‘visited’ her bank and withdrew more than N527,500 from her savings account in a first generation bank (name withheld).
The statement of account of the dead woman indicated that she withdrew N500,000 by ‘self ’ on
February 19, 2008. On February 28, 2008, she made another withdrawal of N27,500 by ‘self’. She made all the withdrawals at the Awolowo Road branch of the bank.
Her only child, Chukwudi Uche Okocha, explained to SunNews:
“My mother died on August 7, 2004 as a result of breast cancer and my dad died on February 1, 2006. He slept and did not wake up. I am the only child of my parents, I was 17 years old when my mother died. My mum was sick for about eight months, suffering from breast cancer before she gave up. Since my parents died, I’ve been managing, trying to cope through the help of family and friends. There is a particular family that took me under their care and since then I’ve been living with them. And to God be the glory, they have been trying. I got admission into University of Lagos to study Mathematics in 2006. It has not been easy not having one’s parents around.
My mother spent a lot of money when she was sick due to the nature of the sickness. We all know that it is not easy to manage cancer. But about a month before she died, she told me that she had something in her savings account; that was her salary account. She told me that whatever happened, there was something left in the account. When she died, she was paid her July salary. Before she died, she told me that she had over N200,000 left in her account and when she died her salary was paid into the account. So, there was over N500,000 in the account when she died.”
Chukwudi, who is now 28 added:

My Phones No Longer Ring Endlessly - Reuben Abati

Former presidential spokesman Reuben Abati shared his moving story about life off the hot seat on Vanguard..
As spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan, my phones rang endlessly and became more than personal navigators within the social space. They defined my entire life; dusk to dawn, all year-round. The phones buzzed non-stop, my email was permanently active; my twitter account received tons of messages per second.   The worst moments were those days when there was a Boko Haram attack virtually every Sunday.
The intrusion into my private life was total as my wife complained about her sleep being disrupted by phones that never seemed to stop ringing. Besides, whenever I was not
checking or responding to the phones, I was busy online trying to find out if the APC had said something contrarian or some other fellow was up to any mischief.
A media manager in the 21st  century is a slave of the Breaking News, a slave particularly of the 24-hour news cycle, and a potential nervous breakdown case. Debo Adesina, my colleague at  The Guardian  once said I was running a “one week, one trouble schedule”.
There were actually moments when trouble knocked on the door every hour, and duty required my team and I to respond to as many issues that came up. Top of the task list was the management of phone calls related to the principal.
In my first week on the job, for example, one of my phones ran out of battery and I had taken the liberty to charge it. While it was still in the off mode, the “Control Room”: the all-powerful communications centre at the State House tried to reach me. They had only just that phone number, so I couldn’t be reached. When eventually they did, the fellow at the other end was livid.
“SA Media, where are you? We have been trying to reach you. Mr President wants to speak with you”
“Sorry, I was charging my phone.   The phone was off.”
“Sir, you can’t switch off your phone now.   Mr President must be able to reach you at any time. You must always be available.”
I was like: “really? Which kin job be dis?”
The Control Room eventually collected all my phone numbers. If I did not pick up a call on time, they called my wife. Sometimes the calls came directly from the Residence, as we referred to the President’s official quarters.
“Abati, Oga dey call you!”
If I still could not be reached, every phone that was ever connected to me would ring non-stop. Busy bodies who had just picked up the information that Abati was needed also often took it upon themselves to track me down.
My wife soon got used to her being asked to produce me, or a car showing up to take me straight to the Residence. I eventually got used to it, and learnt to remain on duty round-the-clock.   In due course, President Jonathan himself would call directly. My wife used to joke that each time there was a call from him, even if I was sleeping, I would spring to my feet and without listening to what he had to say, I would start with a barrage of “Yes sirs”!
Other calls that could not be joked with were calls from my own office. Something could come up that would require coverage, or there could be a breaking story, or it could be something as harmless as office gossip, except that in the corridors of power, nothing is ever harmless. Looking back now, I still can’t figure out how I survived that onslaught of the terror of the telephone.

Before posting the voice recordings, I played it to a few entertainers who confirmed that it's truly Timaya's voice, but at no point did he directly admit to rape...though he was begging the lady for forgiveness.

Onyeka Onwenu in messy N17m Bribe scandal

Ms.Onyeka Onwenu, has been accused of demanding and collecting kickbacks through her personal assistant, Chika Abazu, from a contractor employed to carry out renovation works at the National Centre for Women Development [NCWD], where she is director general.
Premium Times reports that the accusation was levelled by Joseph Nwakama, an architect with Solidmark Associates Limited, the company employed by the Centre to carry out the renovation of its guest house.
However, although it was established by investigators from the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, that Mr. Abazu indeed demanded and received a total of N17 million bribe from the contractor, no direct evidence has so far linked Ms. Onwenu to the offence.
So, it was Mr. Abazu who was on July 10 arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory High Court on a six-count charge of bribery and gratification.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges but was denied bail and ordered remanded in the Federal Prisons, Kuje, until the case is dispensed with.
The presiding judge, Justice Chukwu Ndukwe, adjourned the case till September 28 for trial to commence.
Although investigators could not directly link Ms. Onwenu to bribetaking, documents obtained by the icirnigeria.org revealed so many wrongdoings by the Centre’s management under her watch, including funding the Solidmark contract with money taken from a Women Empowerment Programme in Zamfara State and spending more than was budgeted for the project. That is apart from paying the contractor even before he was officially awarded the contract.

Buhari restricts use of presidential aircraft by wife, aides
President Muhammadu Buhari has restricted the use of aircraft in the presidential fleet by his wife, Hajiya Aisha, and relations.
It was learnt that some members of the First Family will now use commercial flight, unless it becomes compelling for them to fly in presidential aircraft.
Apart from saving cost, the President is said to be determined to prevent abuse of the presidential fleet.

Pres. Buhari says he won’t treat people who didn’t vote for him equally with those who voted for him.

He did say this during a Q&A in the US yesterday. Asked by a white journalist how he intended to deal with issues in the Niger Delta, particularly Amnesty, bunkering and inclusive development, president Buhari said;

“(Going by election results), constituencies that gave me 97% can not in all honesty be treated, on some issues, with constituencies that gave me 5%. I think these are political realities. While, certainly there will be justice for everybody but the people who voted, and made their votes count, they must feel the government has appreciated the effort they put in putting the government in place. I think this is really fair.”

Emeka Ike Disvirgined me And Turned my Kids Against me. Emeka Ike's Wife Cries.

Emeka Ike's wife had gone to court, seeking dissolution of their 12-year-old marriage but Emeka failed to show up in court. Emeka's counsel, Abdul’Hakeem Labi-Lawal, said Emeka has not appeared in court because he is ill. He begged the court to give Emeka 6 months to see if there is possibility of settlement between the couple. The wife however said 6 months was too long adding that Emeka had 2 years to reconcile with her but he didn’t. Her words: “The last time I wanted to speak with our children, it was my mother-in-law who picked the call and asked if I had read Exodus 21 which says that if I go, I shouldn’t return.” . The wife later told THE NATION that Emeka took her last 2 children from her when she was going for her mother’s burial in February. “He promised to bring them to me immediately I returned from my mother’s burial but he didn’t. He doesn’t allow me to speak with them anymore. They are now against me," she said. . She said she left her matrimonial home because she could no longer bear being tortured anymore. She said: “If I was still with him, I may not survive. I was 19-year old when I met him and he was the one who deflowered me. I see no reason I shouldn’t be treated with utmost respect. Due to physical torture, my health has been affected. There was even a time I thought I had breast cancer because I felt a lump on one part of my breast.” . She said things became worse last Sunday when she called Emeka to speak with their children. In tears, she said:”I almost went mad when my first son told me on phone that if I truly loved them, I wouldn’t have abandoned them. . Even my 7-year-old son whose day wouldn’t be complete without seeing me said he doesn’t love me. I love my children. I miss my children. I never abandoned them. I am in pain. Dasuki Denies Maltreating Buhari after 1985 Coup

Immediate past National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd), has sworn that he never maltreated nor took part in maltreating President Muhammadu Buhari when he, as military Head of State, was removed in a 1985 coup.
The former NSA who is currently being accused of treason by the Department of Security Services (DSS), which invaded his house last week seizing his international passports and carting away nine cars in the process said:
“I always respect and dignify my seniors and those in positions of authority whether in service or after. Though a young officer, I was reluctant to be among those that arrested him. And I was not. I only met him afterward at Bonny Camp with Lawal Rafindadi. There is no way I could have maltreated him as being alleged in some quarters. I am glad most of the actors are still alive.”
Dasuki also stated that he knelt down begging Baba Bisi Akande, who was then Chairman of Action Congress Nigeria, ACN, to accept then General Buhari because “General Buhari is a man to be trusted.”
He spoke to blogger Yushua Shauib in Abuja, and also disclosed how he and some others confronted late General Sani Abacha over June 12 election, which was won by late Chief Mashood Kashimawo Abiola. Vanguard reports he said:
“This led to our premature retirement. The persecution that followed forced me into exile, where I teamed up with opposition elements struggling for the return of democracy.”
‘My campaign for him’:
On his roles in politics, the former NSA, who had been having running battles with the Department of State Services, DSS, narrated how he supported the campaign aspiration of Muhammadu Buhari in 2003, 2007 and 2011 presidential elections.
He said respected Northern elements like Adamu Adamu, Bashir Kurfi, Sule Hamman, Wada Maida and Kabir Yusuf are among individuals privy to his active involvement.
While revealing how he campaigned for Buhari to emerge the joint candidate of ACN and CPC in 2011, Dasuki disclosed how he pleaded with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the presence of Bisi Akande to accept Muhammad Buhari as the joint presidential candidate for ACN and CPC.
Dasuki said:
“In the belief that Yoruba and south-westerners are never religious fanatics, especially regarding politics, me and my group suggested that Tinubu should be a running mate to Buhari.
“When other elements opposed that proposition, Tinubu team therefore recommended a Buhari-Osinbajo ticket. Unfortunately, the ticket failed to stick as Pastor Tunde Bakare was eventually pushed forward by other forces.”
Speaking further, the former NSA recalled how prior to the 1983 coup that ousted President Shehu Shagari, himself and two young military officers, who are still alive, travelled to Jos to brief Major General Buhari, who was then the GOC of 3rd Armoured Division, on the furtherance of the planning of the 1983 coup, which made Buhari the major beneficiary.
He said:
“Buhari expressed his bitterness about insinuations on his stewardship in one of the public institutions, but I assured the then GOC not to worry about such reckless and mischievous insinuations.”
Asked why he participated in the ouster of Buhari less than two years afterward ousting Shagari, Dasuki simply answered that General Buhari should know who to blame.
