Should couples use the same Bedroom or Separate?

Rose and I share the same bedroom and bathroom and I can't even imagine having to use separate ones in the near future. But I know that lack of privacy has been identified as one of the reasons strain develop in some marriages, and if an individual had their own space to get a good sleep, or just do them in peace, they may be more amenable when working on other issues. And some people can be so messy, it gets on their partner's last nerves.

At the same time, the intimacy that comes when a couple sleep in each other's arms has been scientifically proven to grow love. Cuddling, with or without sex, is supposed to trigger oxytocin in both men and women, which makes them calmer and more sensitive to the feelings of others. I certainly like that idea :)

Which side are you on, and why is it that option that works for you?

106 out of 200 Foreign Trained Doctors Fail Test to Enable Practice in Nigeria

By Ogugua Obidike

In July 2012, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) announced that no foreign trained doctor will be allowed to practice in Nigeria from October, 2012 except evidence is provided to prove that he or she could have practised in their country of study.

Keeping true to their words, the council recently organised assessment tests for the doctors and out of 200 of them who sat for the tests, it was reported that only 94 doctors and dentists who schooled abroad passed the tests.

otohmillar.blogspot.com reports that the MDCN registrar, Dr Udugbai Ilevbare, said the council wanted only practitioners “who are fit in terms of academic and other relevant conditions are registered to practice medicine and dentistry in Nigeria.”

He added that the council did not “want to unleash on unsuspecting Nigerian practitioners who are not well trained” and welcomed the successful doctors.

Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu who spoke at their induction into the council said the new crops of professionals stood to boost key human resources for health needed to realise the country’s national strategic health development plan.

When BN first broke the news about the new rules for foreign doctors to practice in Nigeria, it was greeted with a heated debate from our readers who had divergent views {click here if you missed it}. Now, with the assessment tests showing that over half of the doctors are not fit to practice in Nigeria, does this mean doctors who want to practice in the country stand a better chance if they study within the shores of this country rather than studying abroad? What could be the reason for the high failure rate?

Ex-councillor stabs teenager for refusing advances

A former councillor of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Onimole Babatunde, is currently being detained at the Area E Police Command, Festac, Lagos for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old girl in the neck after she refused his advances at a night club.

On October 26, Mariam Abubakar (pictured above) went to Pearl Habour Night Club in Rochester Garden Hotel, Festac to “catch weekend fun.” Her friend, who pleaded anonymity, said they only went there “to hang out” when Babatunde, who was obviously drunk, started to make advances to Abubakar.

She said, “She was not interested in him so she did not answer when he called her. He was dancing and Mariam (Abubakar) was sitting at a table. He was obviously drunk and he came to pull her.
“He was manhandling her and she insisted he should leave her alone. This did not go down well with Babatunde and he was really angry. He went to a corner, took a bottle, broke it and stabbed Mariam in the neck.”

According to the source, Babatunde fled the scene immediately.
A police source at Area E told our correspondent that the preliminary report obtained indicated that the incident occurred at about 1:30am. He said Abubakar bled profusely at the scene before she was taken to Naval Hospital, Ojo by sympathisers at the night club.

The source said she was not admitted because those who took her there could not produce a police report.
“That was when someone notified our station (Area E Command) and we went to take her to Ajeromi General Hospital,” he said.

It was learnt that as Abubakar was being taken to the general hospital, she went into a coma.
She was said to have been revived at the general hospital. A nurse at the hospital, who craved anonymity, told our correspondent that she had lost about 20 per cent of her blood.

Abubakar is currently under intensive care at the hospital.

However, the police said the night club workers destroyed evidence at the scene of the alleged crime by cleaning up Abubakar’s blood on the floor.

The hotel has currently been sealed off by the police because the management did not report the incident.
It was learnt that the police got wind of Babatunde’s whereabouts, said to be holing up somewhere in Ikoyi and called him to simply come and write a statement. But he was detained immediately he got to the station.
The police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said she had not been briefed on the case.

Gov. Rochas Okorocha Shuts Down Nudity Clubs In Imo State

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has ordered the immediate closure of nudity clubs in the state, describing their existence as “strange and devilish”. Okorocha, who gave the order in Owerri on Wednesday at the end of the meeting of the state Security Council, said that the operation of nudity clubs debased Igbo culture.

He said that such clubs had compounded the eroding morality of the youths and warned that the government would no longer condone their destructive activities. Many nudity clubs are operating in the state capital.

The governor also banned under-age persons from attending night clubs in the state and warned that any club found admitting such persons or selling alcoholic drinks to them would be closed down permanently.

The governor also ordered the demolition of a house in Oru East Local Government Area and a filling station in Mbaitoli Local Government Area allegedly owned by kidnappers.

Okorocha warned that government was determined to stamp out kidnapping in the state.
He also warned owners of uncompleted buildings in the state to clean and secure them to prevent criminals from using them as hideouts.

The governor decried the upsurge of secret cults in some secondary schools in the state and warned student cult members that government was poised to deal with them.

He expressed concern over the increase in child trafficking in the state and said that government had taken steps with the security agencies to check the trend.

Coffins Rise to the Ground in Maryland After Superstorm Sandy

Coffins Rise to the Ground in Maryland After Superstorm Sandy

Superstorm Sandy left its mark on the US, taking its toll of 50 souls in the States, and causing damages by the millions of dollars. During what some believed was Judgment Day, the dead actually appeared to come to life.

Caskets rose to the ground in a cemetery in Crisfield, Maryland, the Mirror reports. A silver and a bronze coffin were visible above ground in the aftermath of the hurricane.

As the storm devastated the Atlantic coastline, it seems it struck hard enough to dislodge cement-covered graves, bringing coffins to the surface.

The “rise of the dead” was caused by water pressure building up in the ground, unearthing the departed, but this comes just in time to fuel everyone's imagination on Halloween.
