57 PDP Reps Declare Support For Atiku’s Faction

Atiku Abubakar
Fifty-seven members of the House of Representatives have declared their support for the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, which has Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje as national chairman.
The faction broke away from the PDP, with the support of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and a former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who is the National Secretary of the faction.
The 57 House of Representatives members, including the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Zakari Mohammed, said there were more members who could not sign the paper before it was released.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, and the other principal officers are in South Africa.
Most of them are believed to be sympathetic to the cause of the new PDP.
A statement by the 57 House of Representatives members on Tuesday said: “We, the members of the House of Representatives under the platform of the New PDP, hereby congratulate our leaders on the emergence of the new party:
“Although a sizeable number of our members who could not append their signatures because of their unavailability in the country will do so immediately on arrival, we the under signed salute and appreciate the courage, sacrifice and resilience and patriotism of our leaders namely: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar GCON, and the Governors of Kano State, Dr. Rabiu MusaKwankwaso, Aliyu Wammako, (Sokoto), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Abdul Fattah Ahmed (Kwara), and Chibuike Amaechi(Rivers), and other well-meaning and eminent Nigerians for leading the way for the emergence of the New PDP.
“We are also using this opportunity to condemn in strong terms attempts by some agents of the Federal Government to use state apparatus to witch-hunt some of these patriots for taking this bold and courageous step.
“As members of the House of Representatives, we call on the security agencies and other anti-graft bodies to be professional in their activities and not allow themselves be used by anybody no matter how highly placed for their political ambitions. Remember how you want history to judge your tenures.
“We won’t hesitate however to use all instruments of law within our powers as provided by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), to stop this and bring anybody found wanting to book.
“We wish to state that by this statement, we pledge our loyalty and support to the New PDP under the able chairmanship of Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, the Deputy Chairman, Dr Sam SamJaja, National secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinola and other members of the National Executive Committee.
“We congratulate them and wish them the very best as they steer the affairs of our party to provide level playing-field for all Nigerians.”

Rooney Posts Picture Of His Head Injury On Facebook

Rooney Posts Picture Of His Head Injury On Facebook
Wayne Rooney has posted a picture of his head injury on Facebook after the striker was questioned over his commitment to the England squad.
Rooney suffered the cut via the boot of Manchester United team-mate Phil Jones, forcing him out of England’s World Cup qualifiers on Friday and Tuesday.
He said: “Some people seem to be questioning my commitment and the fact I had to pull out of the two games.
“I’m sure people will see the reason why I won’t be able to play.”
Rooney, 27, added: “There’s nothing I would like more than to be helping the lads in the qualifiers.”
United boss David Moyes said the forward could be out for three weeks following the accident, which happened on Saturday in the build-up to United’s defeat to Liverpool – a game Rooney missed because of the injury.

Tyler Perry Lays Hands On Pastor T D Jakes

Tyler Perry Lays Hands On Pastor T D Jakes
On Sunday, Tyler Perry was in Dallas, TX attending Bishop Jakes’ Megafest. Sometime during the service, Perry says he was moved to donate $1 million dollars to Jakes’ youth center. He took the mic and shared this with the congregation:
“God I don’t know what you’re doing but I heard your voice.”
The crowd erupted in shouts and applause and Perry started speaking in tongues before he continued sharing.
“When you hear the voice of God you move. Don’t worry about what nobody says to you. Don’t worry about what it looks like. Don’t worry about your enemy. Don’t worry about your hater. He will bless you. He will lift you…”
Then Perry launched into a mini sermon talking about how we often miss the blessings God has for us because we’re too concerned about people are going to say or think about it.
“Sometimes you spend too much time worrying about your haters. You spend too much time worrying about people talking about you. But what you need to understand is that the Bible says in order for you to be blessed, your haters have to be present. The book of Psalms says he prepareth a table for me in the presence of my enemies. So in order for me to eat, they have to be present.”
After that Perry began praying for Jakes. As he was asking God to keep his anointing on Jakes, Perry was walking toward him until he eventually placed his hands on the top of his head. Which is what you see in the picture above.
The people in Dallas felt it. Bishop Jakes even tweeted this about the experience.
But as with anything spiritually related, there were doubters. Plenty of them. There are those saying the only reasons Jakes “got happy” was because Perry was talking about money. And then there were those saying Perry had no right to be up there because he’s a closeted homosexual who makes his money dressing as a woman.

Ajudua Seeks Bail Again

Fraud kingpin, Mr.Fred Ajudua has asked a Lagos High Court in Ikeja for a fresh bail.
Ajudua’s counsel, Mr. Olalekan Ojo filed the fresh bail application before a vacation judge, Justice Ganiyu Safari.
Ajudua had earlier been denied bail by Justice Olubunmi Oyewole  on June 27, 2013.
Oyewole had ruled that Ajudua had failed to present convincing materials to back his claim that he would not escape from trial after doing so for seven years when he was earlier granted bail in 2005.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in 2003 arraigned Ajudua and his co-accused, Charles Hijiudu, for allegedly defrauding two Dutch businessmen – Mr. Remy Cina and Pierre Vijgen – of about $1.69m between July 1999 and September 2000.
Ojo, arguing the fresh application dated August 19, 2013, said there were fresh facts which emerged after his client was last denied bail by Justice Oyewole.
According to Ojo, after Oyewole denied bail to Ajudua, the accused person was rushed to the emergency unit of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, when his condition deteriorated.
But the EFCC, through its counsel, Mr. Wemimo Ogunde (SAN), opposed the application, saying Ajudua did not deserve any fresh fresh bail.
Ogunde argued that  Ajudua would escape if granted fresh bail as he did when he was granted bail on health grounds in 2005.
Justice Safari adjourned the matter till September 10 for ruling.

Say No To High Cost Of New Number Plate

The recent change of vehicle number plate in Nigeria and the high cost of replacing the old number plate for the new ones is something that should be of concern to all vehicle owners, all Nigerians and all those living in Nigeria and have the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians at heart.
In Nigeria, vehicles are registered with number plates that are for these vehicles. As such when the vehicles are sold to another person, the numbers are sold with the vehicles. By this method, the new owner of the vehicle uses the same plate number on the vehicle. This implies that the vehicle retains the same number as long as it is on the road and the number is never assigned to any other vehicle.
Nigeria has changed number plate as far as I can remember about six times, most of which were necessitated by adjustments in our federating structure through the creation of new states. All this while the system of vehicles owning their numbers has been the practice. This is a practice common in countries like America, Netherlands and most African countries.
In recent times, Nigeria has changed vehicle plate numbers three times without any adjustment to the state structure and without any meaningful impact on the welfare or security situation in Nigeria and Nigerians. Also in the last two changes of plate numbers, vehicles retained their plate numbers and were retained by the new owners whenever such vehicles are sold. But from what I read in a newspaper, the newly introduced plate number is supposed to be a departure from this norm as the plate numbers are not supposed to be for cars but for people. If this is true, it means that when you sell your car, you remove your plate number and put it in any other car you buy whether already registered in Nigeria or not. This system is being practiced in countries like Belgium.
The two systems, if well implemented and people oriented would work well. The fear about using the new system in Nigeria is that we lack the structure to implement it. The basics are not there at all. Nigeria is a country where there are no demographic records. I stand to be corrected if I opine that there is no accurate record of Nigerians, what they do and where they live. In the countries from which we copy these systems, law enforcement agents (normally police) do not have to stop you or meet you before they fine you for traffic offences. They just pick your vehicle plate number and send the fine to your address. In these countries, their roads are good with road markings and necessary road signs. In these countries, traffic laws are enforced just by the police. In these countries, the roads are free from hooligans and tax/levy collectors. In these countries, their police do not go looking for offences where there are none just to extort money from motorists. Also in these countries, their laws are no respecter or molester of persons. One can go on and on.
Taking us down memory lane, but without going too far, we remember when the Police Force under Tafa Balogun introduced the CMR meaning Computerized (or is it Centralized) Motor Registration with Police Report. People were forced to pay for this for every car so that all vehicles will be registered in one central computerized system with their owners’ data, engine and chassis numbers. The idea is to curb theft of vehicles. Yet, vehicles that have these CMR are stolen and are issued CMR and also re-stolen and still get CMR. This means that not even manual documentation were being kept. Then came the plate number that we are using now which we have been told will no longer be in use from October 1 this 2013. We were made to believe that the plate number that is being changed is computerized to guarantee security and safety on the roads. This was said to justify the high cost of the plate number then. Recent development shows that there was nothing like that. By last year, the music changed to E-coding where motorists are fleeced of two thousand naira N2,000 and given coded black thing to screw to their front plate number which carried the identity of their cars. Thus computerized numbers are being re-computerized. Yet, in almost all road check points, nobody had the machine to read the code.
All these are forms of extortion, intimidation, daylight robbery or what I can call people deceiving people and playing on their intelligence.
In line with the foregoing, I make bold to assert that the latest move to once more rob Nigerians of their hard earned money is totally unacceptable and should be condemned by every right thinking Nigerian and people living in Nigeria. The current plate number is the same as the one they are introducing except for the Nigerian map and green boarder on the lower part. As such, vehicles that have the old numbers should be allowed to die with them or at worst these old numbers be exchanged with the new ones for a minimal fee not exceeding cost of producing the new plate numbers.
The Senate aptly captured this as published in Leadership newspaper of 11th May 2012 when it recommended that the new plate number should cost N4,000. It previously recommended N8,400 before reducing it to N4,000 due to public outcry. But as I write to you now, to exchange your old plate number for the new plate number and the particulars that go with it costs about N27,000. From what I heard, the senators have already changed all theirs, which means that they are leaving Nigerians to fight for themselves. Adding pain to this injury is that it takes over a month to get this new Ppate number because the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the VIO are fighting over who gets what from the money they collect from us. We should vehemently reject this exploitation.
Driving in Nigeria has become a risk and a nightmare that vehicle owners need to wake up and demand that things change for the good for all Nigerians. We pay vehicle license and still always break our cars in pot holes that sometimes take our lives (let me mention here that the current government is improving this situation but more still needs to be done). We pay for vehicle insurance yet when we have accidents we are left to settle among ourselves. We register vehicles and give the clearing documents to the authorities yet customs and police will stop registered vehicles and demand to see the clearing documents. Our police being paid with our money treat us as war criminals on the roads and extort money from us. Our public roads are being blocked for almost two years now for fear of Boko Haram without information as to how long this will take. In a road of fifty km especially in the South East, you get over twenty police check points sometimes with three within 200 meters of each other in built up areas. On our roads both the Police, Customs, VIO, FRSC, (of recent NDLEA) etc. now stop and check vehicle particulars. We can go on and on.
Mention here will be made of the drivers’ license that is suffering similar hiccups as the plate numbers. When Soyinka was Corps Marshal and introduced the new drivers’ license, it had five years duration before expiration. Also then, it was of very high quality. It was after him that FRSC reduced the expiry date to two years and the quality has continued to reduce with every change (it has been changed over four times in ten years). Before the two-year expiration, all the texts will fade and you will be forced to pay for a new one. What I have now for example is the photocopy of a current one that faded before the second current one I took that has also faded. I then back it up with an expired one of 2003 that is still intact. You will not go and their centralized system will tell you that you already have ones that have not expired. In some countries we copy, drivers’ license does not expire. Here it is reduced from five years to two years so that people are exploited. Now, the drivers’ license is being cancelled by 1st October too and people are being forced to pay for new ones even when the ones they have are not expired.
If these are not checkmated, they will continue unabated. The call is for Nigerians to lend their voice in this call to say no to paying for new plate numbers to replace the old ones in their vehicles. Let us come out of our docility and for once refuse to be exploited. Posterity will be kind to us and smile at the mention of our names if we do this. Remember that the effective date of enforcing this insensitive law is October 1st and as such we have just exactly one month to make our stand clear and known. Our destiny is in our hands. Count yourself out of the 150 million fools in Nigeria that only know how to complain. SAY NO TO ALREADY REGISTERED VEHICLES PAYING OVER N22,000 for the new plate number. God bless you.

"Marrying Ayo Adesanya was like boarding a 'one-chance' vehicle' ex says

When asked about the lessons he learnt from his relationship with his ex-wife actress Ayo Adesanya, movie producer/cum actor Omogoriola Hassan said marrying Ayo was like boarding a 'one-chance' vehicle. He tells Encomium magazine:
"The biggest lesson I learnt was not to trust anyone. The person you trust may eventually disappoint. Then I was the greatest fool but today I am the wisest and happiest. Marrying Ayo then was like boarding a 'one-chance' vehicle. It was like I could never come across a woman I can love like that not knowing I was just being foolish. If not that she had a baby for me, I would have revealed a lot about her. Will just keep them to myself in the interest of our son. But I was agitated when I read that she wants to remove the tattoo on her hand bearing our logo - No Fear. She is free to do but what about the one on her ass where my name was written bold, Omogoriola Hassan? How is she going to remove that? That is stupid of her. If at all you don't like someone again, that doesn't mean you need to go to that extent. But believe me she's still thinking about me because if she's not she wouldn't be thinking about removing my tattoos on her body.

14-Year Old Girl Gives Birth To Triplets As 16-Year Old Boyfriend Flees

A teenager has given birth to triplets in Bungoma County, Daily Nation has reported. Fourteen-year-old Mwanaharabu Wamukoya of Harambee village in Kakamega County, Kenya was admitted to Bungoma District Hospital on Saturday evening and had a Caesarean Section on Sunday to deliver the three baby boys. Two of the new-borns weighed 1.5 kilogrammes while the third one weighed 1.3 kilogrammes.
Nursing officer-in-charge Mary Marumbu said the babies and their mother were in stable condition and ready to be discharged.
The father of the babies, a 16-year-old boy, is said to have taken off on learning that the girl had given birth to triplets. The teen is also a school dropout and does menial jobs. The arrival of the triplets is said to have distressed him.
“He has no ability to take care of the babies even if he was here. We are grateful to the government for scrapping off maternity fees because I will be free to go home once discharged. I would have been detained here if I had been asked to pay,” the teenage mother said.
Health practitioners in the country have expressed concern over the increasing rates of teenage pregnancies.

Woman Commits Suicide After Her Husband Fails To Get Her An iPad
A 41-year-old woman, Mrs Catherine Sefunmi Urouna, on Saturday, committed suicide by drinking substance suspected to be chemical in protest of her husband’s refusal to buy her a ipad device.
The family of five were thrown into mourning, even as the neighbours were shocked that a woman who was happily married could take such a nasty decision to take her own life over an ipad. The police in Ondo State are, however, investigating the actual cause of her death.
The 41-year-old woman and mother of two boys and a girl was a senior executive accounting officer in Akure North local government council, Iju/Ita-Ogbolu of Ondo State.
She was said to have threatened to kill herself a fortnight ago if the husband didn’t get her an ipad; even as the husband pleaded with her to continue using the Blackberry phone.

Boko Haram kills 54 Innocent Souls In Borno

Atleast 54 people including 24 vigilante youths (Civilian JTF), 14 Shuwa Arab herdsmen and 16 civilians were killed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in three different Local Government Areas of Monguno, Damboa and Nganzai in Borno state.
Gunmen killed 14 nomadic herders in an attack on a village in the north eastern state of Borno, local government representative Alhaji Garba Ali told reporters.
At least 24 members of a vigilante group were killed in a separate attack in a forest in the same state, said another local official who asked not to be named.
The attackers were wearing military uniforms and the vigilantes followed them into the forest, believing them to be government soldiers, the official said.
“They took them to the middle of the forest before descending on them,” he said. “About 24 bodies have been discovered, while 34 other persons are still missing.”
The military has encouraged the formation of vigilante groups to help it track down Boko Haram members as it pursues an offensive in the northeast aiming to end the Islamist extremists’ four-year insurgency.
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in the northeast in May and the military immediately launched a major offensive in the region aiming to end Boko Haram’s insurgency.
Boko Haram’s insurgency has left more than 3,600 dead since 2009, including killings by the security forces, who have been accused of major abuses.

Lagos Cable Car Network. Construction Starts In November..

Lagos in Nigeria has become the latest city to propose a cable car as a mode of mass urban transport in a scheme to be completed by 2015.
Ropeways Transport Limited has signed a franchise agreement with the (LAMATA) Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority and the Lagos State government, which will cover the project for 30 years.
Construction on the first phase of the cable car system will begin in November when towers, stations and the connecting cables will start to be put in place.
Once completed, passengers will be able to travel from Ijora to Iddo; Iddo to Adeniji; Apapa to Oluwole; Oluwole to Adeniji; Adeniji to Obalende; Obalende to Falomo; and Falomo to Victoria Island.
Captain Dago Olumide, Chief Executive Officer of Ropeways Transport Limited, said that the cable car network would help to solve the transport issues that are currently hampering Lagos and preventing its economic expansion.
He went on to say: "By complementing existing transport modes, the Lagos cable car transit system will play its part in reducing the traffic congestion in the city."
Lagos is expected to have 25 million inhabitants by the year 2015, meaning that the current 12 million daily passenger movements will increase by six per cent each year, putting added pressure on the existing transport infrastructure.
It can take those travelling to work by car within the city as long as three hours to complete the journey and 200,000 new vehicles are registered in Lagos State every year, Captain Olumide pointed out.
"Presently, there is need to ameliorate the existing congestion on the three bridges connecting Lagos Mainland to Lagos Island and to provide a link between Apapa and the Central Business District on Lagos Island, and also to link Victoria Island with the Central Business District of Lagos Island. These are what we hope to achieve with the launch of the cable transit system," he added.
Cable cars are increasingly being used as an everyday form of transport across the world, due to the fact that they are green and efficient, with one currently under construction in Brest in Brittany.

Fertility Clinics Buy Sperm From Lagosians For N50,000

People get married for different reasons. While some seek companionship in marriage, many go into marriage for procreation. For couples who look forward to having children immediately after marriage, being declared ‘infertile’ by experts is like a death sentence.
While it is generally agreed that it takes two to have a baby and every couple is expected to be in optimum health to have babies, medical experts claim men are having more fertility challenge now. Sperm concentration in men is said to have decreased by a third since 1990s while sperm count is said to have decreased by half over the past 50 years.
Studies are also showing genetic abnormalities in sperm particularly in older men. For men therefore, quantity, quality and motility of spermatozoa are seen as important factors in fertility.
Since the male factor is a prominent cause of infertility in couples, sperm donation has become vital in assisted conception treatment.

40-Years-Old Mother Set To Marry Own Son-In Zimbabwe (See Photo Of Them Kissing)

mother-and-son-getty
A 40-year-old mother is set to marry her own son.  The woman and her son claim to be in love with each other.  And now they want to take their relationship to the next level and get married considering that the mother, Betty Mbereko (from Mwenezi in Masvingo) is now six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child and her grand child.
Mbereko, 40,  has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-years-old son  Farai Mbereko.
She confirms that she is six month pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her.
Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier.
She said after spending a lot of money sending Farai to school following the death of her husband, she felt she had a right to his money and no other woman was entitled to it.
“Look, I strove alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and you accuse me of doing something wrong.
“Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she told the village court council.
Farai said he was more than prepared to marry his mother and would pay off the ilobola balance his father had left unpaid to his grandparents.
“I know my father died before he finished paying the bride price and I am prepared to pay it off,” he said. “It is better to publicise what is happening because people should know that I am the one who made my mother pregnant.
Otherwise they will accuse her of promiscuity.” But local headman Nathan Muputirwa says: “We cannot allow this to happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya, (This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they would have to be killed but today we cannot do it because we are afraid of the police.”
