Three South Africa-based Nigerians, among them a mother of seven, have been arrested by operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, with an estimated street value at N374 million.
Also arrested was a 44-year-old Asaba-based music producer, whose alleged attempt to smuggle 4.95kg of substance suspected to be cocaine into the country was foiled. The suspects, who were arrested at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, allegedly concealed the substance in security lamps, silicon sealants and foodstuff.

States of Jersey to Return £315 Million Abacha Loot to Nigeria

The States of Jersey the biggest territory in the Channels Island is set to return £ 315 million Abacha loot to Nigeria.
Micheal Birt, the Ballif of Jersey stated this at a dinner in honour of Dalhatu Tafida, Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK during a State visit to the Island.
Birt who doubles as the Island’s Civic Head of State and ceremonial head is the highest ranking official in the Jersey order of precedence.
It will be recalled that the Island famous for its transparent banking services had previously repatriated in two tranches £140 million pounds of the loot.
The Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports on Monday in London that the money was laundered on behalf of Abacha by Raj Bhojwani an Indian businessman.
Bhojwani is currently serving an eight year sentence in a UK prison.
Speaking on Jersey’s financial services and global perception of the Island, Birt said that the repatriated loot was in line with ongoing campaign against money laundering.
“We have done a lot to clean up the image of the Island as a safe haven for stolen wealth.”
“What we have in place is a transparent and legal finance heaven where only legal funds can be deposited and accessed by investors,” Birt said.
In his response Tafida commended Birt for the Islands transparent banking sector, and informed them of government’s commitment to
fighting corruption and strengthening its anti-graft agencies.
The high commissioner also spoke on the investment opportunities in all sectors of the economy, while laying emphasis on the nation’s GDP, and high return on investment rate.
Nigeria’s GDP has grown above 6.5 per cent per annul in the last six years.
” The array of investment opportunities that abound in the country and generous incentives available to investors in all sectors of the economy, has continued to make it a global investment destination,” he stressed.
The dinner was attended by top officials from the Jersey government and members of Tafida’s delegation.
NAN reports that the visit marks the beginning of bi-lateral relations with the Jersey.
Officials from Jersey are expected to carry out a similar visit to Nigeria.

Alert: New Job Scam Tactics In Town

"Scammers have gone a step higher. To be honest, I almost fell for their tricks.
This morning I received a call from an unknown lady. From her voice, she must be in her late fourties. She called my name and asked if I was at home and I answered in the affirmative. She said she is Mrs Fregene and works in Chevron yard, Escravos and that one of my friends gave her my CV. She then asked if I have Chevron swimming passport, seaman's passport and safety mandatory certificate. I replied no.
She said she was asking because she had successfully convinced one of the manager to include my name for a job that would last 4 years (4 yrs contract). She went further to say that if I dont have them, she can link me up with the safety manager in Chevron yard warri- a lady called Mrs Vera Ofili to assist me in getting those documents and that the company charges N55000 for the three documents. She then texted the lady's number to me and asked me to call her. She urged me to be fast because we would be leaving for work this coming saturday and that I would miss the chance if I dont have those documents.
I called the lady (Mrs vera Ofili) who confirmed that one of their staff at Escravos had told her about me. She said she would make sure I get the documents and that I should pay N55000 into the company's safety account and come to her office at chevron yard warri with the bank teller.
Now, what got me suspicious was the fact that if any of my friends gave out my CV and something is in the pipeline, they would be aware and thus alert me. So I called the first lady and asked her which of my friends gave her my CV. She then feigned annoyance and threatened to stop helping me and I apologised.
What really convinced me that they are scammers was when the so-called Mrs. Ofili sent me the safety account number. It was a personal account number bearing the name, Mr Salisu Johnson, Fidelity Bank account number 6235451016.
I then pretended that I have paid and they called me to confirm. I just okayed the call and put it near my home theatre speaker. That was how they got the message that I knew their plan.

Emmunuel Adebayor’s War With Family Deepens

The war between Togo footballer, Emmanuel Adebayor and his family seems to be escalating by the day. It will be recalled that few weeks ago his sister, Maggie went on Ghana’s Peace FM to grant an interview were she accused the footballer of evicting herself and his mom from his Togo mansion with the help of his bodyguards.
Emmaunuel who denied this said, his family members including his mom were casting spell on him, but despite that, he refused to evict them, but they left on their own

‘I never sacked my mum from the house. She decided to leave the house.
‘How am I going to be in touch with my mum if my mum is the one telling everyone that my work will not go forward, so I will just be on my side and do my thing.
‘They should stop talking, they should stop doing Juju on me, they should leave me alone.
‘I bought a $1.2m house in East Legon for the one talking and calling herself my sister. Can you imagine that sister went to rent the house without my knowledge?’

Boko Haram Are Depraved, Heartless Human Beings Who Worship Satan-Tinubu

National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has condemned Friday’s terrorist attack on a mosque in Kano describing the perpetrators as “godless people”.
In a statement in Lagos, Sunday, Mr. Tinubu said that numerous attacks by Boko Haram on innocent people demonstrate how heinous and debased the group and those who sponsor it have become.“So depraved, they have become heartless and filled with enmity against all that is good and proper. This was not the act of human beings,” said Mr. Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor.
“These attacks could only have come from the hands of those who do not know God or Serve God. This is the act of godless people.”
More than 100 people died and hundreds more injured after multiple explosions ripped through the Kano Central Mosque, near the Emir’s palace, Muslim faithful prepared Jumaat prayers.
The blasts occurred as the Chief Imam of the mosque, Sani Zahradeen, was about to start the prayers.
Tinubu said that the explosion was the handiwork of evil forces propelled by wickedness.
“No reason can be found for what was done except that BH (Boko Haram) has once again shown its lust for innocent blood and its disdain for life peacefully lived. Boko Haram killed people praying to God because the god of Boko Haram is Satan himself.
“Boko Haram seeks to scare and intimidate Christian and Muslim alike through wanton destruction. They may attack us but never shall this evil force subdue us. Christian and Muslim must stand arm-in-arm to face down this terrorist onslaught.”
The APC had postponed its House of Assembly primaries earlier slated for December 1 by 24 hours to sympathise with victims of the attack.
Tinubu urged Nigerians not to allow the activity of the terrorist group from creating hate and divisions among them.
“Nigeria can and will defeat this terrorist machine and those behind it. We have no other home. We have no other choice.”

Omonigho Abraham, the four-year-old boy who was attacked by two German shepherd dogs in the Igando area of Lagos State, has been withdrawn from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Omonigho was on Friday last week, flown to an Indian hospital for treatment.
Our correspondent had exclusively reported that the dogs belonging to his parents’ landlord, Stanley Wesley, pursued Omonigbo and his two older brothers, Osemudiamen (7) and Bobby (13).
While the brothers escaped by jumping down from the one-storey building, the victim was savagely bitten by the dogs.
PUNCH Metro reported that the dogs chew off his scalp and exposed his skull.
Our correspondent reported that his admission at the LASUTH was marred with claims of abandonment and at a point, the victim’s father, Mr. Odia, said his son’s condition had worsened due to negligence.
The hospital management had promised to take better care of Omonigho, adding that the state’s governor, Babatunde Fashola, had instructed that the government should bear all the cost of his treatment.
However, PUNCH Metro gathered on Monday that the victim had been withdrawn from the state’s medical facility and flown abroad for further treatment.
Odia told our correspondent that the Delta State Government and a non-governmental organisation in Abuja, Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care, GIPLC, teamed up to make the travel possible.
Odia said, “He was taken from LASUTH on Friday en route to India for treatment. His mother went with him.
“They travelled in the evening and they have arrived at the place. LASUTH has done the best it could. He was flown out by the Delta State Government and an NGO.
“I followed due process and attempted meeting with the Chief Medical Director, but he was not on seat. I later saw the clinical director who was happy with the news. I met with every one of them one-on-one and they welcome it.”
When contacted, the national leader of the GIPLC, Nuhu Kwajafa, said the group took interest in Omonigho’s case after reading the report online.
He said, “We saw his case online and contacted his father. We were able to raise an initial sum of N1.5m, which we gave to the family.
“Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State also came in to help in his travel abroad.”
He added that the treatment would take about a month.
However, the Lagos State Government has said Omonigho’s withdrawal from the Burns and Plastics unit of LASUTH was against medical advice.
The Commissioner for Health, Mr. Jide Idris, in a statement on Monday, said the victim’s father was “desperate” and rebuffed all explanations that the boy’s healing was a gradual process.
The statement read in part, “While conservative wound management was being done in the Burns and Plastic Ward in LASUTH, the Lagos State Government set plans in motion to take Omonigho abroad for further management, where all expenses incurred would be covered by the government.
“His parents were informed of every step of the process, and had close and continuous contact with the Ministry of Health.
“After a thorough search, a suitable hospital was found that would care for the young boy. The chosen facility was the RAK Hospital, Dubai, United Arab Emirate.
“LASUTH established a communication channel with RAK Hospital and it was determined that Omonigho would require a meshed skin graft coverage of the exposed skull for the next phase of his management.
“Governor Babatunde Fashola approved the funds for the management of Omonigho, which includes traveling, feeding and accommodation at the Rak Hospital in Dubai, UAE.”
The commissioner said Omonigho’s father after agreeing to all the travel plans, suddenly announced that he would fly out his son to India.
He said efforts to assist in the India trip was rejected by Odia, who insisted that the Delta State Government and the NGO had decided to bear all the cost.
Idris said report from the surgical team responsible for the victim’s treatment showed that the boy’s health might be at risk if his ongoing treatment was interrupted.
“But Odia unfortunately, took the ill-advised step to leave the facility after being thoroughly counseled by the specialist,” he added.

Afghan Police shot down 'Suicide Bomber' Bird(Photos)

Afghan police shot dead a bird which had been equipped by the Taliban with a bomb.
Alert officers spotted the suspicious bird in the Faryab province in the north of the country.
According to NBC,the bird had several wires protruding from its feathers, a mobile phone detonator and a specially designed 'suicide vest'.
Police were also suspicious about the large bird, because it was not native to the area and was bigger than an early
Major General Abdul Nabi Ilham told NBC News that the bird exploded when it was shot and 'suspicious metal stuff' was scattered around.Ilham added;

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has been widely applauded as one of the best governors in Nigeria. He is also the only APC govern who was re-elected for a second term . It was widely believed, he may be a vice Presidential candidate. However, a new report by Punch claims a highly placed source in APC revealed he missed out on the chance because he's muslim.

"You know that the South-West is a base for the APC and it also contributed immensely to its formation. We would have preferred Fashola because of his pedigree in the state. Moreover, of all the APC governors from the zone, he is the only one doing his second term.
“But this issue of religion is the problem. Apart from this, other APC governors from the zone are also Muslims. You may need to recall that the enemies of our party tried in vain before to label the party a Muslim party.
“Even though they have failed, we may also need to be guided by the words of advice from former President Olusegun Obasanjo against any party fielding same religion ticket. This is what is hampering us concerning Fashola, whose performance and competence cannot be queried.”
The source said that even though the national leadership of the party was aware that the people of the “South-West are not religious but we are dealing with a larger society now. So, we must be careful.”

US Cancels Training Of Nigerian Military

At the request of the Nigerian government, the United States of America (USA) has said it has discontinued its training of a Nigerian Army battalion.
The first two phases of training were conducted between April and August 2014, and had provided previously untrained civilian personnel with basic soldiering skills.
