AK47 Rifle Recovered In Islamic School Mosque Full Of Almajiris In Niger-police

Residents of Angwa Daji community, in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, now live in fear following the discovery of an AK-47 rifle inside a mosque within the vicinity of an Islamic school.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the rifle was discovered last Saturday at about 8:40 a.m. after a shot was said to have been fired with the gun, which attracted the attention of the police to the area.

It was further learnt that as soon as the police got to the scene, the rifle, allegedly loaded with 27 rounds of live ammunition, and an empty shell were recovered from the mosque.

Also arrested in connection with the incident were three suspects, including the head of the school.

Activist sues Lagos over proposed N500 toll on Lekki-Ikoyi bridge

The lawyer said the proposed N500 toll fee on the Lekki-Ikoyi Suspended Bridge is illegal.

A lawyer and human rights activist, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, on Monday sued the Lagos State Government over the proposed collection of N500 toll on the newly constructed Lekki-Ikoyi Suspended Bridge.

In the suit No. FHC/L/CS/1405/2012 before a Federal High Court in Lagos, Mr. Adegboruwa is seeking an injunction restraining the government from collecting any toll from motorists on the bridge.

The activist stated in the originating summons that reports on the proposed toll collection was published by the Guardian newspaper of October 8.

The Attorney-General of the Federation, the Attorney-General of Lagos State, and the National Inland Water ways Authority are joined in the suit as co-defendants.

The originating summons was supported by a 34-paragraph affidavit deposed to by the applicant.

Mr. Adegboruwa argued that the toll of N500 per vehicle is uncalled for in view of the hardship, hunger and unemployment in Nigeria.

He claimed that the bridge was built on a federal navigable waterway belonging to the Federal Government.

Mr. Adegboruwa also wants the court to determine whether the LASG has the power to erect any structure such as a bridge on the Lagos Lagoon and the Lekki Lagoon which, he said, were categorised by law as federal navigable waterways.

He also wants the court to determine whether the state government is competent to impose any toll or tax on such a bridge.

He argues that collection of such a toll or tax from Nigerians contravenes their fundamental right to free movement.

Also, the lawyer claims that the imposition of such a levy on road users will prevent them from using the bridge and constitute discrimination and violation of the rights of the road users.

The applicant seeks a declaration that the imposition of a toll, fee or tariff on road users is illegal and inconsistent with the Nigeria’s Constitution.

The case is yet to be assigned to a judge.

Katsina crowd cheers as Atiku stoops to greet Obasanjo

Atiku and Obasanjo, who served as vice president and president of Nigeria respectively from 1999-2007, had an estranged relationship during the last lap of their second term in office.
Both men were among a retinue of VIPs invited to the opening of the week long Comp-troller-Generals’ conference held at the newly inaugurated auditorium of Katsina State University.
Obasanjo, who arrived ahead of Atiku, was seated next to second republic President Shehu Shagari and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
Atiku, who arrived nearly 40 minutes after his former boss, first greeted the Emir of Gwandu Alhaji Muhammad Iliyasu, Emir of Katsina Dr Abdulmimini Usman, the Ooni and Shagari who were seated at the podium.
When he got to Obasanjo, the former Vice President knelt down and bowed his head to greet his former boss.
The delighted crowd followed the mild drama with a loud applause and cheers.
A man who sat opposite the VIP podium raised his two hands up and shouted “Alleluia.”
Two former heads of state, top traditional rulers from different geo-political zones in Nigeria, former Comptroller-Generals of Cus-toms and Customs chiefs from the Africa region attended the opening event.
The theme of this year’s annual Comptroller-General’s conference is “Border Divide, Customs Connects.”

Chris Brown Deletes Twitter After Vulgar Exchange With Female Comedian

Chris Brown

Chris Brown deleted his Twitter account on Sunday after engaging in a vulgar exchange with female comedian Jenny Johnson. The singer, who has suspended his online activity a number of times after posting controversial remarks, has fled the twittersphere following a bizarre back and forth with Johnson, a TV producer and comedian.

The feud started after Brown tweeted a photo of himself with the caption, "I look old as f---! I'm only 23." Johnson, who has been taking comedic pot shots at Brown online for several years since the singer pleaded guilty to felony assault on ex- (and perhaps current) girlfriend Rihanna, responded with the comment, "I know! Being a worthless piece of s--- can really age a person."

Brown shot back with, "Take them teeth out when u Sucking my d--- HOE," with Johnson tweaking the singer's typo by writing, "It's 'HO' not 'HOE' you ignorant f---." From there, the conversation devolved in, literal, potty humor, with Brown making a crude oral sex joke and Johnson taking a shot at Breezy's mother by saying, "Your mom must be so proud of you."
Brown took the bait, responding, "Mom says hello ... she told me not to shart in ur mouth, wanted me to s--- right on your retina."

At one point, Johnson included a link to an MTV News story
from March 6, 2009 featuring the graphic details of Brown's assault on Rihanna on February 8, 2009.

Johnson — who reportedly once retweeted the comment "Call me old fashioned, but Chris Brown should be in prison" — ended the exchange with, "YOU FLIRT!" with Brown getting a final shot in by typing, "Let me leave this bitch alone ... it's good to know my worth by listening to a bitch that is worthless! #win #bushpigswag."

Woman Denied Sex For 10 Years, Sues Husband

A housewife, Saratu Haruna, on Monday dragged her husband, Isa Mainika before a Kaduna Sharia Court two, Magajin Gari for allegedly denying her sex for 10 years.

Haruna of Kawo, in Kaduna North Local Government Area, told the court that she was no longer interested in the marriage, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The woman said she no longer believes there is marriage between them.

“We have been staying for 10 years now, but nothing is happening between us in terms of marital affairs,” she said.

She told the court that she was no more interested in staying with Mainika as her husband, adding, “I don’t love him again.”

Mainika denied the claim, and accused the wife of starving him of sex.

“Anytime I request for sex, she always denies me. There was a time we had a serious fight over this issue and she bit me,” he said.

Mainika told the court that trouble started after his wife gave birth to their second baby.

He said, “Since then I do not know what I have done to her and I have asked her severally, but she refused to say anything.

“I even invited our elders to settle the matter but the effort yielded no positive result.

“I am still in love with her. I do not want to divorce her because I am really worried about the future of our children.”

The Presiding Khadi, Mallam Ibrahim Inuwa, ordered the couple to discuss the matter with their elders for amicable settlement.

Inuwa, however, said that if the case is not settled by the family, the court would decide on what to do.

“What is happening between you is not the Sunnah of our holy prophet. It is totally not acceptable in Islam to be cheating on one another,” he said.

“No BRT Bus Fell Off Third Mainland Bridge”

Some moments ago, a false report went viral saying a fully loaded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus that was conveying passengers across the Third Mainland Bridge had fallen off the bridge into the Lagos Lagoon.

On Twitter, Facebook, Radio Stations, News Websites and other social media platforms, the disturbing news spread like wild fire, getting many people worried over the safety of the alleged passengers of the bus.

Most media sources based their news on a tweet by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), which confirmed the accident.

The FRSC tweeted this message earlier: “A fully loaded BRT bus fell off the 3rd mainland bridge into the Lagos lagoon, 26-11-12. Rescue work in progress. Motorists be cautious.”

However, coming as a huge relief, the FRSC spokesman, Jonas Agwu has said the tweet about BRT falling off 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos is a “hoax”. The tweet has been deleted from the their Twitter page and replaced with this:

The Lagos State Government has also debunked the story saying it was a rumour. On Traffic FM, the state government’s dedicated traffic radio station, the news was also described as false.

While the news of the accident was still being circulated on Twitter, Jon Gambrell, the AP correspondent in Nigeria visited the scene and tweeted his findings.
