“I’m the only actress that has never slept with any actor” – Cossy Orjiakor

Busty actress and singer, Cossy Orjiakor, has come out to defend herself, after a fan recently accused her of being a whore, labelling her as the “ultimate ashi”.

Miss Orjiakor, who is popular for her posting semi-nude pictures of herself on Twitter and Instagram, borrowed a popular cliche, insisting that a book must not be judged by its cover and she is the only actress, who has not slept with a fellow actor.

Her updates on Twitter were:

“To my faithful fans don’t be deceived by d ultimate ashi saga. Am basically d only actress that have not slept with an actor… Ask around

“Sex is sweet. I can’t denied that… But how can I be ultimate ashii. When I ve not had sex for loong. Hmm don’t judge a book by its cover.

“Be true to ur self. Dream it, believe it, u will achieve it. Start today u will be amazed at what u will achieve in 5yrs, bad press kills.”

“Only two governors signed death warrants since 1999″ – Falana

Respected human rights Lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has said that since the return of democratic government in 1999, only two Governors have signed death warrants of the execution of death row inmates in the country.
It would be recalled that the former governor Kano State and presidential candidate in the 2011 general election, Ibrahim Shekarau was the first to have signed in 2006, while the second was by Governor Adams Oshiomhole in October 2012.

The former Kano state Governor reportedly endorsed the execution of seven inmates on a death row, who were all sentenced to death in the state, while Oshiomhole recently ratified the execution of two persons in Edo State.

According to Falana, legal and sociological implications of the action make it hard for civilian Governors to authorize the execution of a death sentence.

He said: “There is a sociological angle to the issue of executing death row inmates. Most prisons find it difficult to find hangmen. It is difficult to find a Nigerian, who would be proud of an occupation of killing people. And more importantly, it is difficult for civilian governors to ratify the killing of other citizens, even though they have been convicted.

“Since 1999, there have been only two ratifications for the execution of death row inmates in the country. The first one was by one of the governors of Kano State and recently, by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State. It is not easy for the governors because it is official murder. The reason for penalties in law is for correction, not execution. It is a fact that the death penalty has not served as a deterrent anywhere in the world.”
The Lagos-based lawyer added that the sentence of the death row inmates would eventually be turned into life sentence due to the pressure at the prisons and global campaign against death penalty, stressing that Oshiomhole also turned the sentences of two other death row inmates to life imprisonment.
Reacting, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Kayode Odeyemi: “The delay in their execution is beyond our scope. Our job is to keep them safe. It is the governors that would sign their execution order.”

“I’m married to music, I’m too young for all that” – Iyanya speaks on Yvonne Nelson & Tonto Dikeh

2012 ,was without a doubt Iyanya’s year. One of his songs, ‘Kukere’, became an instant hit, ruling the airwaves for a long time and swelling his fanbase.

Recently, Iyanya, has been romantically linked with actresses Tonto Dikeh and Yvonne Nelson. In an interview with Hiphop World Magazine, he clears the air on this and also talks about his upcoming album.
Full Interview:
HHW: You recently broke a record. Was it an African record, world record? Tell us about it

Iyanya: The caller tunes record was for Africa. First artist to reach 3million caller tunes downloads. I’m thankful to God, to the fans. You know you can do a whole lot with N50, even if it’s to buy pure water, it’s something. But 3million people downloaded my song and I really appreciate it, I’m thankful.

HHW: When you recorded the song did you see all this coming?

Iyanya: I didn’t see it man. I didn’t see close to 5million YouTube hits. There’s a whole lot of things that people don’t know yet that they will know about ‘Kukere’. It’s unfolding by the day. I didn’t see it. When I recorded that song, I had a grand in my pocket and I was screaming ‘I get money oooh’. So it’s just a blessing.

HHW: And we heard Mtech brought a cheque to you. Do you want to share?

Iyanya: No I can’t do that. I got a cheque though. Big ups to M-tech.

HHW: So the whole issue of Yvone Nelson, Iyanya, Tonto Dikeh and probably a Tiwa Savage in the mix

Iyanya: Whaaat!

HHW: You heard, you saw the tweets?

Iyanya: Yeah I saw the tweets. First of all I need people to understand that blogs will write they have to write so they can get hits. There’s a price to pay for fame. People have access to you, they can say anything about you. But I just want people to know, before they say a word, do not forget that I have not said anything. I have not told you that I’m dating A or dating B. On this interview, I repeat that I am a single guy married to my music and my hustle. I’m too young for all that, I’m just young and getting it right now.

I remember very well that I made it clear that I’m friends with these mentioned people. I am not dating anybody, and I am not dating anybody as we speak. If you check my tweets, my TL, you’ll see that I refused to say anything about it o reply. I appreciate all the love that I get, but I just want to say something, most of the things that you see on Twitter, Facebook, that you check on blogs and all that. Sometimes, it’s just buzz.

HHW: Iyanya Versus Desire. We’ve gotten four singles already. ‘Flavour’ the latest one.

Iyanya: And I’m dropping one more, by January. Flavour video is out next week. It was shot and directed by Moe Musa in London, and then IVD drops February

HHW: Why that title? Iyanya Versus Desire

Iyanya: You know how it all started. When I was in Calabar back then, I started as Desire. Even till now, they don’t say Iyanya, they say Desire. Desire was the soul, love truly, inlove guy and I realised that till now, people still love that guy, they still love Desire. So my album is a combination of the old me which is like the real me and the Iyanya, the ‘Kukere’ guy that you guys have made me, because ‘Kukere’ was not me.

Everybody knows I am a soul singer but because of the fact that as an artiste you have to be versatile, you have to read your environment, study it. Which by God’s grace myself, my team and a few people around me were able to study for about four years and I just tried ‘Kukere’.

IVD is just Iyanya, Desire. R&B, Pop. Iyanya is a musician that’s a hustler. Desire is the guy that says how he feels. That’s the whole idea. So when you get my album you don’t say, this guy should have just sang now or this guy should have just been giving us dancing. You can say I wanna listen to R&B and I wanna listen to pop.

HHW: Do you have any other thing you’d like to share

Iyanya: Nothing else man. Just to say, i love my fans. Without my fans, this would not be possible. I remember about two years ago when I had just about 5, 000 followers on twitter. Among those 5, 000 some were telling me, Iyanya why don’t you just change something, people love you as a singer, why don’t you try something else.

Among that 5, 000 I had followers telling me Iyanya, I believe in you. I know you can be a bigger brand. And those people that when I said I wanna be on your show, they were like, what you gonna sing. People don’t wanna sleep. Those people made me today and I just wanna say bigups up to you, thank you.

DPR confirms Nigeria now imports diesel and gas from Niger Republic

Kano Controller, Department of Petroleum Product (DPR), Alhaji Sayyadi Suleiman Abubakar has revealed that Nigerian Marketers now import AGO and Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) from neighboring OPEC membercountry, Niger Republic.

Briefing reporters in his office on the activities of his department, Alhaji Sayyadi Suleiman Abubakar explained that the two products are in the exclusive list of deregulated items, adding that “it could be acquired from anywhere and sold in the Nigerian market.

Alhaji Abubakar said that such importation does not attract any financial commitment from the federal Government, maintaining that the DPR does not regulate their market prices unlike the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

The Controller who responded to a question on whether the Department has the power to regulate prices said, “yes, Nigeria now imports AGO, that is Diesel, and LPG, otherwise known as Gas from Niger Republic, and I want to state clearly that this venture does not attract any financial commitment from the federal Government”.

Alhaji Abubakar further revealed that the Department has sealed no fewer than 10 service stations and destroyed two illegal fuel dumps within and around Kano, in the last couple of weeks, for selling products above the official pump price stated that the “affected companies were appropriately sanctioned.”

Abuja Private Hospital Records First Successful Kidney Transplant

A major medical breakthrough has been recorded in the nation’s capital, Abuja, as a team of Nigerian doctors have successfully carried out a kidney transplant operation on a 20-year-old patient, Gabriel Onogu.

The landmark operation took place last Friday at Viewpoint Hospital in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja by a team of surgeons led by Mr. Elijah Maina and his partner, Prof. Hakeem. Three more patients are on the list for transplant which the hospital believes will also be successful.

Maina, a consultant, trauma-vascular and general surgeon, had worked in the UK before he came back to Nigeria.

He initially worked with the State House Clinic and National Hospital, Abuja but is now working with various hospitals in Abuja.

Viewpoint Medical Director, Dr. Hauwa’u Bello Gambari described the successful operation as a remarkable feat and major breakthrough and expressed optimism over the three remaining patients.

Giving insight into the transplant, Gambari said the lucky patient is doing well and even started “making” urine on the operating table. She said Onogu has been out of school because he was on dialysis. The young man’s condition has been a huge burden on his family since his father is late.

“He should be getting dialysis three times a week but because his father is late, his mother is an unemployed widow and his brother Stephen Onogu, the donor, is also an unemployed graduate. They couldn’t even pay for the dialysis and for this reason, he was having his dialysis once in a week which wasn’t good for him,” said Dr. Gambari.

She said getting a donor is not a problem but at the same time not easy since the organ has to be compatible with the patient

“One cannot just request for another’s kidney. Even when there is a donor, the kidney has to be screened for compatibility. Drugs have to be given that will prevent rejection for life. Chances of succeeding are higher if the compatibility supersedes”, she explained.

She said the hospital will embark on the next surgery by January next year and called on people suffering from the ailment to come out and solicit for help. She also stressed that the operation can be done in any government hospital, depending on the government’s commitment.

“Whoever has the disease should not cover it up and die in silence, they should come out and for those that have the means, they should support them even by paying for their dialysis,” she stated.

Gambari said the other patients on the line will have their transplant after they get the right donor and after necessary tests have been done

The lucky patient, Gabriel Onogu, told our reporter that he is happy over his treatment and was proud to be the first to benefit in the first transplant in the hospital.

“I thank the kidney foundation and my brother who donated his kidney for me. Also I thank the doctors that performed the operation. Due to my health, I couldn’t pursue my admission further since I had to be on dialysis every week, but by the grace of God, I should be back in school next year”, he said.
