A staunch Arsenal football fan in Iganga District in Eastern Uganda is looking for a home for his family after he lost his house in a bet over a game between English clubs Arsenal Football Club and Manchester United.
Before the English Premier League table toppers Arsenal met with champions, Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, Henry Dhabasani staked his two-roomed house in a bet with Rashid Yiga, that Arsenal would win the game. On his part, Yiga staked his new Toyota Premio car and his wife that Manchester United would win.
The two put their stake in writing, with local leaders and fans witnessing the deed. Dhabasani, married to three wives with five children, fainted at the end of the match on realizing Arsenal had lost the game 1–0.
On Monday, several Manchester United fans stormed Dhabasani’s home and threw him and his family out.

Prof.Festus Iyayi’s Body Moved To Benin
The remains of former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Festus Iyayi, who died in an auto crash on Lokoja-Abuja road, while traveling to Kano for the union’s National Executive Council(NEC) meeting, were on Wednesday moved from Lokoja to Benin by his relations.
According to the Chief Medical Director, Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, Dr. Paul Amodu, the late professor’s younger brother, led other relations to collect the corpse at about 12 noon, with an ambulance of the Federal University, Lokoja.
He added that the team also comprised officials from the University of Benin.
Amodu said that Iyayi was brought in dead to the hospital few minutes after noon on Tuesday.

Chime Attempts To Eject Wife From State House "Detention"
Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State today attempted to eject his wife, Clara Chime, from her State House quarters over her decision to go public about his illegal detention of her.
In effect, Mrs. Chime would have regained the freedom she has been denied for months, and for which she has campaigned publicly in the past week.
The governor’s action followed a marathon meeting the governor held with Clara’s Igwe family, during which the governor decided to let her leave the government house.
However, insiders say Mrs. Chime said she would prefer to travel out, preferably to the United Kingdom, to take care of herself and then be allowed to return to her matrimonial home upon completion of her trip.
Sources at the meeting said the governor turned down that offer, instead telling the First Lady to pack out immediately.
Security sources said that her refusal to leave immediately led to an attempt to forcefully eject her from the government house.
Following Mrs. Chime’s refusal to leave unceremoniously, the governor relented and called for another emergency meeting of the family. The meeting was still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.
On Friday, Governor Chime met with a delegation from the National Human Rights Commission for several hours to explain the reason for the confinement of the First Lady to a section of Government House.
Mrs. Chime's public outcry was first reported by SaharaReporters last week. In a letter, she complained she had been confined within Government House and had suffered depression. She subsequently also disclosed the harsh circumstances of her detention, including being threatened by the governor whenever she asked permission to leave.

Gov. Sullivan Chime & Wife Mrs Clara Deny He Put Her On House Arrest
Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State and his wife Mrs Clara Chima have denied reports that the Governor subjected her to house arrest.
According to Punch, Governor Chime made this denial in the presence of some journalists, his wife and her elder brother, Mr. Tony Igwe.
Also present were the governor’s siblings, Mrs. May Oji and Dr. Jide Chime, as well as Mrs. Chime’s neuro-psychiatric doctor, Dr. Aham Agumuo, among a few others.
At the interview session, the governor’s wife denied sending any petition to the National Human Rights Commission alleging unlawful detention by her husband.
She also denied hiring the services of Mr. Femi Falana to seek her freedom from an alleged house arrest at the Governor’s Lodge, Enugu.
Falana had claimed in his letter to media houses and the Inspector-General of Police that he was engaged by the governor’s wife to seek her freedom from alleged house arrest.
The state governor, however, stated that it was “so disturbing” for him to speak out publicly about his wife’s health challenges.
He vowed to do all within his power, no matter the personal pains, to protect her from ridicule.
Well, my wife has some medical challenges and it would be very unkind for me to talk about her condition on the pages of newspapers.
I have done everything to protect her integrity and I’m not now going to expose her to ridicule because some people want to exploit her situation to drag me into a needless war of words,” Chime said.

The Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bankers Committee on Tuesday sealed a biometric solution pact with a German Firm, Dermalog, for the development of a payment system that would be driven by fingerprints
What this means is unlike the current practice where different instruments are used as means of identification, bank customers will from 2014 be identified through their fingerprints.
Sanusi, while speaking at the signing of the agreement, which was held at the central bank’s headquarters in Abuja, noted that the system would become operational on February 14, 2014.
This move followed the recommendation of a sub-committee chaired by the Group Managing Director, Zenith Bank Plc, Mr. Godwin Emefiele. *winks*

Order The Release Of Mrs Clara Chime Or Be Dragged To Court, Femi Falana Tells IG
After breaking the story of the unlawful detention of Enugu First Lady, Clara Chime, by her husband, Gov. Sullivan Chime, Sahara Reporters again are reporting that, Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has taken up the case. Mr Falana is asking the IG to order the release of Mrs Clara Chime or be dragged to court. The reports below;
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. MD Abubakar, to ensure the immediate release from unlawful detention of Mrs. Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State who is being held hostage at Government House Enugu by Governor Sullivan Chime, or be dragged to court.
In a letter dated November 1, 2013, Mr. Falana, representing Mrs. Chime, pointed out that his client has been kept incommunicado in solitary confinement for over four months on the directives of Governor Chime.
“Thus our client’s fundamental rights to the dignity of her person, personal liberty, fair hearing, private and family life and freedom of movement guaranteed by the Constitution and the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 have been violated without any legal justification,” it said.
“Although our client’s dehumanizing detention conditions have had deleterious effects on her psychological state as well as her mental and physical health she has been denied access to her doctors by her abductors,” the petition said. “It is particularly disturbing to note that some of the police and state security service personnel assigned to secure the safety of the Enugu State governor, his wife and other family members have aided and abetted Mr. Chime in subjecting our client to egregious infringements of her aforesaid fundamental rights.”
It pointed out, however, that unlike the governor who is currently immune from prosecution under the constitution, the police and state security service officials involved in the illegal arrest and detention of Mrs. Chime ought to be sanctioned under the relevant laws.
In a letter exclusively published by SaharaReporters on October 28, Mrs. Chime complained that Governor Chime had placed her under house arrest, and begged human rights bodies to come to her rescue.
She said that eminent personalities such as President and Mrs. Goodluck Jonathan and the Bishop Callistus Onaga of Enugu State and other top priests had attempted to intervene in the matter without success.
Among other things, Mrs. Chime said she had been introduced to two psychiatrists, Dr. Onwukwe and Dr. Agumo, who prescribed “all kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute depressed and also drives me into hallucinations.”

The West is on alert over a possible coup in Uzbekistan as powerful henchmen surrounding 75-year-old ruler Islam Karimov battle with his glamorous but hated daughter Gulnara over the succession to the ailing autocrat.

It is unclear which allegedly revealing photographs offended the Muslim president – who was once a member of the Soviet Union’s ruling politburo.
However, Gulnara was pictured in April wearing little more than peacock feathers in a shoot.
Karimov summoned his top officials, and accused them of keeping him in the dark over his daughter’s excesses.
‘The President cursed at Prosecutor General Rashid Kadyrov for disguising the truth about financial and other deals of Gulnara Karimova. Interior Minister Matlubov was accused by the President of misleading him.
‘Karimov ordered Inoyatov and Matlubov to immediately arrest all chiefs of counter-corruption divisions of the National Security Service and Interior Ministry, who were aware of those deals and did nothing to counteract them.’
A total of 18 high ranking officials were arrested or dismissed and a number of Gulnara allies fled abroad, it was reported.
After summoning Gulnara, Karmimov first slapped her and then really started to beat Gulnara. He said that she disgraced the family in front of the whole world.
‘The President’s bodyguards tried to calm him down.
‘Later, the President asked all his bodyguards and servants to leave him alone. He did not go into the building of the residence, but decided to have a walk in the garden.
‘At night, while returning to the residence, some bodyguards noticed that he was crying.’
The noose has been tightening gradually on Gulnara who in July was removed as ambassador to the UN in Geneva, and so forfeited her diplomatic immunity. She is reported to be under criminal investigation in France and at least one other European country.
