Vice-President Sambo Loses Over N200m To Thieves.

This is certainly not a good season for Vice President Namadi Sambo. He is not only battling to be relevant in a government he is second in command, the former governor of Kaduna State is equally contending with influential forces within the rank of some Northern governors angling to take his place as a running mate to President Goodluck Jonathan should thelatter decide to run for another term in 2015.
Beyond the political pressures almost suffocating him in the Aso Rock presidential villa, Arc Sambo’s business empire has also come under attack about a fortnight ago when he lost over N200 million to armed night marauders.

Boko Haram: Ugandan President, Museveni, mocks Nigeria over foreign military assistance

President Museveni says he would be prepared to hang than hand over the security of his country to the United Nations
Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni, has mocked the Nigerian military over its failure to contain the extremist sect, Boko Haram, saying he would be prepared to “hang” than surrender his country’s security to foreigners as Nigeria and other troubled African nations have done.
Mr. Museveni said the failure of the governments of Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo, to protect their people and instead opt for foreign assistance amounts to a vote of no confidence.
“I have never called the United Nations to guard your security. Me, Yoweri Museveni to say that I have failed to protect my people and I call in the UN….I would rather hang myself,” Mr. Museveni was quoted by the country’s state-owned newspaper, New Vision, as saying.

Girl forced to watch her father/brother killed by Boko Haram tells her story

15 year old Deborah Peter, a Chibok indigene who now resides in Virginia, USA, was at the Capitol Hill, D.C yesterday May 21st, where she narrated her experience in the hands of Boko Haram. Deborah was at the US congress in her capacity as a Boko haram survivor, to lend her voice to the #bringbackourgirls campaign, as members of the congress debated on how to effectively win the war against the radical Islamic sect that abducted over 200 girls in Chibok on April 14th.
Deborah told the story of how her father, a Christian pastor who had been asked to deny his faith and her brother were both killed in a singular attack on the evening of Dec 22 2011 by three members of Boko haram. She said the men shot her dad 3 times on the chest and as they deliberated on whether to kill her brother, her dad breathed his last when he heard gun shots fired at his son, Caleb.
Deborah said she was then asked to lie in between their corpses. She laid there until the next morning when she was rescued by a local Pastor who paid for her to be transported out of the region. Sadly, the pastor who assisted her was also killed in 2013 by the sect men.

During her presentation, Deborah held up a paper sign reading “#BringBackMySisters” for video cameras and photographers.
“I decided to tell the world my story when the Chibok girls were taken because everyone needs to know how horrible Boko Haram is. They kill innocent people who never hurt them. I want the world to understand what happened to me. I hope the kidnapped Chibok girls will take courage from my story, and know more of what God says, and know what it means to stand strong in the face of bad people.” she said
Deborah was asked to describe how she felt about Boko Haram after all she had been through and she replied “It’s a hard question. I think they’re bad. I can’t judge them. The Bible said do not judge.”

Alyssa Funke 19-Years Old, Shot And Killed Herself After Classmates Learned She Starred In Blue Movie

Alyssa Funke, a 19-year-old student at the University of Wisconsin’s River Falls campus, committed suicide after being bullied and harassed online over her choice to appear in pornography.
According to reports, Funke was majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry when in March, she appeared in a video from porn producers CastingCouch-X under the name Stella Ann. The video got released in April and somehow, it was quickly discovered by Funke's classmates, both at her old high school and at the University of Wisconsin. But on April 16, a day after she posted her last tweet, she bought a shotgun and shot herself on her family’s boat, leaving behind her parents and her nine siblings.
Police are investigating the circumstances of Funke’s death, but they don’t believe her being targeted by cyberbullies had anything to do with it. Funke’s parents, however, disagree with the police’s assessment of their daughter’s death. They think cyberbullying played a significant role in Funke’s suicide.see tweet

Shocking! Bird Turns To Old Woman In Lagos

Residents of Ajegunle area of Lagos were, yesterday, thrown into shock, after a bird was said to have transformed into an old woman who confessed to being a witch.
The dark-complexioned nonagenarian with tribal marks, who spoke in Yoruba, told a bewildered crowd that she was on her way back to Ibadan, Oyo State (as a bird) when she missed her track.
She was also said to have told the mammoth crowd that her mystical powers disappointed her because it was dawn.
Eye-witnesses told OTOHMILLAR that three black birds were seen at about 7am, flying side‑by‑side along Old Ojo Road.
Then, all of a sudden, one of them landed on a moving pick‑up van owned by Eko Electricity Distribution Company.
An eye witness who identified himself simply as Mr Okafor said: “Immediately the bird landed on the van, it transformed into an old woman.
“Everyone ran away at first but we later gathered round the woman only to discover that she had a bruise on her forehead with which she landed.
“When we asked her what her mission was, she said three of them were sent to Lagos from their coven in Ibadan but that on their way back, they missed their way.
“She said they started hovering in the area until it was morning, adding that she fell because she was tired.
“She also told us that she initially did not want to embark on the journey and that she used to restrict her witchcraft activities to Ibadan because of her age.
“She was thereafter taken to the Baale of Ajeromi, where she confessed to have killed her husband through witchcraft.”
Policemen from Layeni Police Division were said to have been contacted to prevent the woman from being lynched and they came and took her away.
Police sources told OTOHMILLAR that the woman would be released to any of her relations who shows up, explaining that the law does not recognise witchcraft.
“She has not committed any crime and will, therefore, be released to any member of her family who shows up. We did not arrest her. We only prevented a likely jungle justice,” the police source said.

Army recruits more men to fight Boko Haram

In a bid to effectively confront the country’s terrorism challenge, the Nigerian Army (NA) has commenced the recruitment of qualified able men into the service. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, Director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Olajide Laleye said those recruited will be deployed to contain the insurrection in the north-east after their training. Laleye complained about reports in some sections of the media questioning the capability of the Army, saying the Nigerian Army remains one of the binding forces of the country’s unity. “The Nigerian Army is far from being weak and ineffective. It is unfortunate that in spite of the efforts to tackle the insecurity problem in the country, some individuals, bodies and organisations are working toward tarnishing its image,” he told NAN. “This group and their international collaborators are trying hard to portray the Nigerian military as corrupt, with myriad of problems and challenges ranging from morale of troops, equipment and troops welfare.” He enthused that the Army has performed creditably in all operations assigned to it, while its performances in peacekeeping and internal security operations have been outstanding. He assured officers that their welfare will henceforth receive priority, which is why their allowances for the month of May have been fully settled. Meanwhile, 10 Next of Kins (NOK) of soldiers who lost their lives to Boko Haram attacks in the line of duty were presented with cheques. Maj.-Gen. Bitus Kwaji, managing director of the Nigerian Army Welfare Limited, presented the cheques on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS). According to Kwajji, the COAS was very passionate about the immediate NOKs getting the cheques. He said the payments were being made in three folds: Nigerian Army Welfare Insurance Payment, Benevolent Fund, and the Nigerian Army Life Policy. He also described the payment as part of a series of payments that the Army would be making to the family before the actual payment of the death benefit by the Military Pension Board. “This payment we are making today is to ensure that the families of the deceased have something to live on before they get the death benefit,” he said. “It would have been made since April but the documents and the NOKs were not available. That is why the money is being paid now. It took us quite some time before we could get the particulars of the Next of Kins.”

Confession – How A Married Man I Met On BBM Almost Killed Me With S*X And Drugs

I am a graduate and currently serving in Kaduna. I could have runced it, but I needed somewhere to clear my head and forget about my ugly encounter. Here is my story.

I happened to have a married man as a contact on my bbm. He had been asking me out for over six months and I refused to date him.
As time went on, he invited me clubbing with him when his wife was outside the country, and I went with him all night. We spent most of the night at Swe bar, Lagos. I also met his clique of friends, married as well with their various mistresses. We had ‘mad’ fun. After all the clubbing and drinking, he lodged me in a hotel somewhere in Obalende. I felt sort of safe with him. We did not have se’x, but he made sweet love to me and touched me in places I had never ever imagined. He kissed me passionately but guess what? He did not have se’x with me.

EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian Military sights abducted Chibok schoolgirls in 3 Boko Haram camps

Nigeria’s Special Forces from the Army’s 7th Division have sighted and narrowed the search for the more than 250 abducted Chibok schoolgirls to three camps operated by the extremist Boko Haram sect north of Kukawa at the western corridors of the Lake Chad, senior military and administration officials have said.
“It has been a most difficult but heroic breakthrough,” one senior military official said in Abuja.
That claim was supported by another senior commander from the Army’s 7th Division, the military formation created to deal with the insurgency in the Northeast. The 7th Division is headquartered in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The breakthrough comes at a critical moment for the Nigerian military that has faced cutting criticism over its handling of the kidnapping of the girls more than a month ago.
The news is also key for the Maiduguri-based 7th Division a week after a humiliating mutiny by troops of its 101 battalion who fired at the General Officer Commanding the division, Ahmadu Mohammed, a Major General.
Maj. Gen. Mohammed escaped unhurt, but has since been redeployed. The soldiers blamed him for the deaths of at least four of their colleagues killed near Chibok, a remote community in Borno State where the girls were taken captives April 14.
But military insiders said Mr. Mohammed was targeted for daring to arrest the growing indiscipline within his troop.
The abductions have sparked international outrage, with the United States, United Kingdom, France and Israel, providing intelligence and surveillance assistance.

If you want to pass exams, eat bananas!

Consumption of bananas helps to improve mental alertness and is ideal for the maintenance of normal blood pressure and heart function, Miss Yemisi Olowookere, a dietician at the Garki Hospital, Abuja, has said. Speaking with NAN in Abuja on Tuesday, Olowookere said bananas are the best source of potassium, an essential mineral for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function, as a medium-size banana provides 350g of potassium, which helps the body to maintain normal fluid and electrolyte balances in the cells. “Bananas help restore normal bowel activity, rich in non digestible fibres, help with constipation and diarrhoea and normalise the colon’s function to absorb large amounts of water for regular bowel movements,” she said. “Bananas have long been recognised for their antacid effects that protect against stomach ulcers and ulcer damage. They help to neutralise acidity, a great way to get rid of heart burn. Bananas are a perfect baby food. They are the best solid food to introduce to infants. A mashed ripe banana is an extremely simple and healthy baby food.’’ Olowookere noted that bananas are easy to digest and rarely cause allergic reactions, and could be recommended for children recovering from diseases, particularly diarrhoea. “The dietary fibre component in banana pulp has cholesterol-lowering effect and also promotes an overall improvement of the functional efficiency of kidneys due to the high potassium content present in bananas,” she added. “Banana can calm an upset stomach and help rehydrate the body. It contains 25 percent of Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for vitamin B6 necessary for producing antibodies, red blood cells, and aiding in the metabolism of fat. She explained that while the Vitamin B6 present in banana serves as an immunity booster, bananas are capable of stimulating the production of haemoglobin in the blood, are therefore useful in cases of anaemia. “Bananas make you smarter and help with learning by making one more alert. Eat a banana before an exam to benefit from the high levels of potassium,” she said.
