Gang Rapes Rev. Sister, Kidnaps 10 Rev. Fathers, Pastors In Enugu
The police in Enugu State have arrested seven suspects accused of raping a Reverend Sister, in addition to the kidnap of over 10 Rev. Fathers, pastors, politicians and passengers.
The suspects were arrested at Ugwuaji forest, Enugu State by men of the state police anti-kidnapping squad after abducting several victims along Enugu/Port Harcourt road.
The men of the underworld were also said to operate a camp in Akwuke forest where they keep some of their victims. They were also accused of operating at Ndude Seminary where they have allegedly kidnapped over 10 Rev. Fathers, who were taken to their Ugwaji forest camp.
The suspects in custody include Haruna Ibrahim (27), Abubakar Abdullahi (37), Sunday Selbon Melven (27), Onyedika Okafor (25), Lawal Sule (28), Bello Mohammed (29), Bello Musa Shehu (25). They were said to hail from Sokoto, Kebbi, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Plateau and Enugu State.
“Based on several petitions on the activities of the suspects, I had to order the commander anti-kidnapping squad, Supol Alex Akinlalu who led his men to round up the kidnappers on March 19, at the Ugwuaji forest.
One of the suspects, Haruna Ibrahim told Saturday Sun: “We have two groups in Enugu State. We only collect ransom from the family of our victims, we don’t kill people.”
Speaking further on their exploits, the suspect said “We have kidnapped a Rev Father at 9th mile and took him to Ugwuaji forest where he spent just two days after we collected N250,000 from him. Also, we kidnapped a pastor at Obiorre Udi old road and collected a ransom of N150,000.
Another suspect, Bello Mohammed stated: “Our Owu group took a bus passenger into Ugwuaji forest and collected N200,000 from him before we released him.”
The state police commissioner, CP Adamu assured that the suspects will soon be charged to court.

Ex-teacher arrested in Japan says he paid for sex with over 12,000 women
A former school principal in Japan says he paid for sex with more than 12,000 women -- some of them girls as young as 14 during repeated visits to the Philippines over more than a quarter of a century, according to police.
Now, at the age of 64, he's facing criminal charges.
Japanese police say they arrested the man, Yuhei Takashima, on Wednesday over allegations he photographed an obscene act with a girl of 13 or 14 and produced pornography in a hotel room in Manila, the Philippine capital.
Police officers seized 147,600 photos that Takashima took of his activities over the years, said Takeshi Akimoto, the police officer in charge of crime involving minors in Kanagawa, a prefecture south of Tokyo.
The pictures were kept in more than 400 photo albums, he said.
Prostitutes aged from 14 to over 70
Takashima, who comes from the city of Yokohama, told police that he began paying for sex with women in 1988 when he went to work at a Japanese school in Manila.
He said that stepping outside of moral codes relieved the heavy pressure he felt at work, according to police.
Takashima told police that he continued to pay for sex because it was so cheap. After the end of his three-year stint at the school in Manila, he frequently returned to the Philippines on vacations in order to buy sex.
He said the ages of the prostitutes he hired ranged from 14 to over 70.
The Philippines is a notorious destination for sex tourists, including pedophiles. The country's sex industry is tied to human trafficking and feeds off the high poverty rate.
36-year teaching career
Akimoto, the police officer, said Takashima's case had been under investigation since 2013. The incident for which he was arrested is believed to have taken place in Manila in January 2014.
Yokohama education authorities said that Takashima became a junior high school teacher in 1975 and was sent to work at the school in Manila between 1988 and 1991. He served as a junior high school principal from 2008 until his retirement in 2011.
The education authorities said that the crime was very regrettable, if proven to be true, and that the city government works hard to try to prevent inappropriate actions.
Hillary Clinton to announce presidential bid on Sunday
Hillary Clinton is expected to announce on Sunday, via video and social media, her intention to seek the Democratic presidential nomination, a party official told Reuters on Friday.
Following the announcement, the former secretary of state will travel to the key primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire, said the source, who is close to Clinton.
"She's expected to make her intention to run known on Sunday," the source said.
In her previous presidential run in 2008, Clinton lost to the current president, Barack Obama, in part because of the Obama campaign's clever use of social media to draw attention to his candidacy and raise huge sums through small donations.
Her use of social media is also an appeal to young voters, whom Clinton needs to become American's first woman president. In 2012, young political staffers made the now 67-year-old former first lady an Internet sensation with the blog "Texts from Hillary."
Also on Friday, Clinton released an update to her memoir, "Hard Choices," in which she described her final days as secretary of state and her feelings about her first grandchild, as her campaign is expected to concentrate on making her relatable to ordinary Americans.
“Becoming a grandmother has made me think deeply about the responsibility we all share as stewards of the world we inherit and will one day pass on. Rather than make me want to slow down, it has spurred me to speed up,” she wrote.
