CBN Resolves To Clear All Backlog of Forex Demand In The Country


The Central Bank of Nigeria has resolved to clear all the backlog of forex demand of about 5 billion dollars in the country through spot and forward settlements.
According to a statement released by the Acting Director, Corporate Communications of the Central Bank, Mr Issac Okoroafor, the move is to engender confidence, ensure credible price formation and sustain the integrity of the Nigerian inter-bank FX market.

Her parents likewise released a statement, saying they were 'overjoyed to be grandparents again'.

Godwin Obaseki has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Sept. 10 election in Edo State.
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, the leader of the party’s national delegation that conducted the primary election, announced the results this morning in Benin, the state capital.
He said, Obaseki scored 1,618 votes to defeat his 11 opponents.

Ali Modu Sheriff Plans To Create Another Boko Haram In Abuja – Makarfi

hmed Makarfi, The Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the former National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, of planning to recreate another Boko Haram in Abuja.
This is as the struggle over the control of the party’s secretariat by supporters of the two claimants, on Thursday, left at least one person with a broken head.

Nigerian doctor convicted for fraud in UK,banned from practice(Photo)


A Nigerian gynecologist Dr Anthony Madu, 45, has been asked to repay £75,620.73 within six months or go to prison.This came after it was discovered he secretly carried out well-paid job while on paid sick leave from another hospital.
The Nigerian-born Madu doctor was convicted of six charges of fraud and given a two-year suspended sentence in 2014.

US govt cancels visas of 3 Nigerian lawmakers accused of sexual misconduct in Cleveland


US government has cancelled the visas of the three house of Representatives members, Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom), Mohammed Gololo (APC, Bauchi) and Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue), all pictured above, accused of alleged sexual misconduct while on an official assignment in Cleveland, USA in April this year.
In a petition written by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, and sent to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the US government alleged that while the lawmakers lodged at a Cleveland Hotel to attend the International Visitors Leadership Program, Honorable Gololo grabbed the housekeeper of the hotel they lodged in and solicited for sex while the other two lawmakers asked the hotel parking lot attendants to help them get prostitutes.
As punishments for their misconducts, the US government has cancelled their visa, barring them from entering the US. The lawmakers have denied the allegations. One of them, Gololo has even threatened to sue the US government.
Meanwhile the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has set up a panel of enquiry into the matter.

Ekiti Economic Crisis: Fayose’s Aide Blame Fayemi, Ex-Finance Commissioner
