Why Jonathan May Lose – PDP Chieftain

GEJ
A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Hassan Jalo, said yesterday that President Goodluck Jonathan risks losing the February 14 presidential election if he keeps relying on the promises of those he called “Abuja politicians”.
The ruling party, he said, will be digging its own grave by underrating the strength and the challenge posed by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jalo, who spoke in a chat with reporters in Kaduna, said the ruling party could emerge victorious if it returns to the drawing board and to the grassroots to mobilise for supports.
He said: “PDP will fail if it relies on Abuja politicians because they cannot decide who wins the presidential elections. The party must go back to the drawing board and grassroots for it to come out victorious in the 2015 elections. People are defecting in mass from PDP at the grassroots.
“APC is a big threat to PDP because it is a formidable opposition.  People close to Jonathan don’t tell him the truth. The PDP is in a serious problem – if it does not go back to the drawing board and it keeps relying on the Abuja politicians.
“If the PDP does not do that I’m afraid anything can happen in the 2015 general elections. PDP is in danger. You see the plain truth is PDP should not take APC lightly.
“APC is a very strong and formidable opposition party. And is a threat to PDP. 2015 election will not be like any other elections. Mind you, PDP has lost five formidable state governors. For PDP to lose Kano and Lagos, which are highly populated area, forget it. Kano and Lagos brings the highest votes in Nigeria.
“Any political party that can win the Northwest and Southwest and get additional votes from Northeast, Northcentral, Southeast and Southsouth will win the Presidency.
“Majority of the votes comes from the Northwest and Southwest. And look at it that the PDP has lost Kano, Northwest and Lagos, Southwest. PDP has messed up by losing Kwara, Adamawa and Sokoto.
“When you take the Sokoto Caliphate, which comprises of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi, they vote in mass. And even in this 2015 election, they will vote in one direction from the way I’m looking at things. And all this forms part of the Northwest. In Nigerian politics, ones you win in the Southwest and Northwest, you have won the presidency because that is where the bulk of the votes come from.
“The Southsouth and Southeast don’t bring votes while the Northeast and Northcentral are divided. So, the bulk of the votes come from the Northwest and Southwest. Nobody can win the presidency with the votes of the Southsouth and Southeast.
“So, if you look at the calculations, you will know that PDP is in a clear danger. If they don’t go back to the drawing board, stop relying on Abuja politicians and go back to the grassroots, where the votes come from, PDP is finished.
“You cannot be in Abuja and go to tell Mr. President and the National Chairman of PDP lies that I call win my state. And maybe for a year or six months they’ve not been to their village.
“Those are the Abuja politicians, who only stay in Abuja and go and tell Mr. President they will deliver their state for him only just to get contracts and leave. And those are the people the PDP is relying on.
“Abuja politicians are the problem of PDP. Mr. President should know that he is been deceived. He should tell the PDP National Chairman, ‘let everybody go back to their villages and mobilise for the party’”.

Pastors collected N6b to campaign against APC, Buhari - Amaechi

Gov Rotimi Amaechi, who is also the DG of the APC campaign organization has accused the PDP of paying some Christian clerics N6billion to campaign againts the APC and its presidential candidate, Gen Buhari. Amaechi made the allegation during the state's APC governorship candidate, Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside's campaign in Emohua local government area of Rivers State today.
"Some pastors collected N6 billion and they are circulating documents and telling you not to vote for an Hausa man, not to vote for a Muslim because they want to Islamise Nigeria. Tell them to return our N6 billion. They gave them N6 billion. They should return it to the Federal Government coffers. They will tell you that Buhari wants to Islamise Nigeria. Tell them we are too educated. I am a Catholic, but no Catholic priest has told me that story right now in the Catholic Church, because I will ask him how. If any Pastor tells you that, tell him to return the money. Nobody can Islamise Nigeria. They have commercialized Jesus Christ. They should stop commercializing Jesus Christ. He is our Lord and Saviour. You know what Jesus Christ did in the temple. He chased them away. We shall chase away those pastors who collected money from PDP leaders to tell us lies. We shall chase them away on behalf of our Lord Jesus Christ.” he said

Jordan Vows To Execute ISIS Members After Pilot Was Burned Alive

Militants fighting for the Islamic State terror group in Syria and Iraq have claimed to have burned alive captured Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh while he was locked helpless in a cage.
The chilling footage appeared to show the captured airman being set alight as the militants,  infamous for their barbaric murders  plunged new depths of depravity.
The footage, filmed from several camera angles, shows the pilot wearing an orange jumpsuit and seemingly doused in fuel, as a trail of petrol leading up to the iron bars of the cage is seen being set ablaze.
Flames are seen quickly spreading across the dirt to the cage where they completely engulf the helpless pilot in images that are far too distressing to publish, Dailymail says.
The release of the video has prompted Jordan to announce it will execute all six prisoners convicted of association with ISIS 'within hours'.
Within an hour of the 22-minute-long video's publication, Jordan reportedly moved ISIS-linked prisoners to a jail in the south of the country which is usually used for state executions.

Why Governor Fayose Will Be Forever Loyal To President Jonathan

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti on Monday said his support for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan was in appreciation for the opportunity given him to serve the people of Ekiti state.
Fayose, who made this known during his campaign tour to Ikole in Ekiti, said it would be wrong on his part if he did not support the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“I was removed as Ekiti state governor in 2006 by one President but re-elected as governor in 2014 under another President and I will forever be grateful to the latter.
“The overwhelming support I have been receiving from the people of Ekiti since my assumption of office has clearly shown that I was wrongly removed in 2006.
“You should show the support during the February elections by voting for the re-election of President Jonathan and other candidates under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

Nigeria Tops List Of African Countries With Highest Illicit Financial Transfers – AU Panel

Worried by the high rate at which resource-rich African countries lose huge revenues through corruption, illegal transfers of profits and money laundering abroad, the African Union, AU, has asked President Goodluck Jonathan and other African leaders to openly declare their assets and subject their wealth to public scrutiny, according to Premium Times.
A report on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa, compiled by an AU panel led by former South African President Thabo Mbeki, said Africa loses an estimated $60billion (about N10.08trillion) annually through such transfers. The report was presented Sunday at a summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The report has stirred massive concerns in Nigeria, which is said to account for over $40.9billion (about N6.87trillion), or 68 per cent of the total figure.
Cumulatively, Nigeria also topped the list of ten African countries with highest incidence of illicit financial transfers between 1970 and 2008, recording about $217.7billion (about N36.57trillion), or 30.5% of the total in the continent.

Buhari Is Running Away From Debates And Must Be Rejected Come Feb. 14- PDP

General Muhammadu Buhari has said he will not participate in the debate organised by the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN, and Channels Television, after admitting at first that he will. The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, through its spokesperson, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned him and his party, saying they are merely taking Nigerians for granted and they should be rejected at the polls come February 14.
Buhari has been condemning Jonathan during his presidential campaigns over insurgents, now he has the opportunity of debating with him, but he Buhari is now running away, Mr Fani Kayode said. Continue below to read  PDP’s press statement on this.
“We have been informed that General Buhari and the APC have decided not to participate in the NPAN-CHANNELS Television-organised debate after they had earlier agreed to take part in it.
“We had thought that having withdrawn from participating in the debate organised by Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), they would have availed themselves this second platform.
“Now that they have also turned their back on this, it is now very clear that General Buhari is incapable of engaging in rigorous live television debates on the issues of governance. It speaks about his intellectual laziness and his loss of touch with contemporary issues of development and statecraft.
“We would like to reiterate that the APC has something to shield about General Buhari. He has campaigned in some states of the federation attacking President Jonathan’s handling of insurgency, corruption and economy. Now there is a platform on which both candidates can engage each other on these issues and he (Buhari) is running away.
“It is a disgrace to the APC and their candidate that they would treat everybody with contempt. The organisers of the debates are interested in promoting a robust culture of debates so that people can listen to the candidates and make informed choices on the basis of their arguments.
“We call on Nigerians to express their displeasure with General Buhari and the APC by rejecting them at the poll. This will be a just recompense for treating the Nigerian people and electorate with disdain.

Why Nigerian girls prefer to date married men - Onyeka Ibeanusi

Article written by musician and social commentator, Onyeka Ibeanusi.

This controversial topic has been a subject of regular argument without any credible answer. You may have wondered why a beautiful young, presumably intelligent girl will leave a trail of young and energetic young men running after her to pitch her tent with a married man. Someone she is fully aware belong to someone else. This phenomenon has led established female celebrities who are considered screen goddesses of some sort to end up marrying old men. Sometimes as second, third or even fourth wives. There is no need to go into details because the list is endless.
Back to the pressing issue without straying far away from the main subject matter. Why do Nigerian girls prefer married men?
Like many before me, I will try to present answers to this controversial subject. Firstly, attention must be drawn to the fact that Nigeria is a country where everything is measured by the amount in your bank account. Nigerians do not care how intelligent, hardworking or talented you are; if you are not making money, I mean enough money, then you are still a learner.
Most girls have had their fair share of heartbreak from guys and in defence have opted for married men. Some want that fun ride, with no serious commitment, emotions and energy put into making something work with a single young man. Then again, the economic state of the nation. Many girls want to meet up financially but they don't want to be seen as 'Runs girls'
'Aristos' or whatever name we call it so the married man option to them becomes a lesser evil.
A married man will do anything to get that young single girl. He will spend money without thinking and knowing that there is really no future in the relationship, will give the girl some degree of freedom. A single young man will do the opposite. By the time he starts splashing cash on you, have it in mind that you have automatically become his property and part of his future plans. He expects a lot from the girl and the girl does the same.
In the case of dating a married man; except in rare cases, the relationship is more like a contract with both parties respecting a certain boundary.
Then again, the hope of getting someone 'Serious' while having fun and enjoying the goodies from the married man is a major motivational factor. Most eligible young Nigerian men are still struggling to find their feet and any serious relationship they get into, is part of a planning strategy. Someone that will help them plan better and secure their future which will certainly obstruct the free flow of fund like the case of a married man/single girl relationship. The married man is only in it for the ride since he is already settled and is looking for extra marital fun while the girl most often is in it for the money without commitment.
So the next time you wonder why a girl will leave you for a married man, remember the above reasons.
