Markets In Lagos To Be Shut For Oba Akiolu’s Birthday
Markets in Lagos may be shut tomorrow for the 70th birthday celebration of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, just days after markets were shut to celebrate the installation of former governor Bola Tinubu’s daughter, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, as Iyaloja General of Nigeria.
A trader who deals in textile materials at Balogun Market said she is yet to make up for the loss recorded because of the closure of markets on Tuesday, lamenting why she will have to face another closure just days later.
Traders at Jankara market situated on the Island are also apprehensive about the impending closure.
Although no confirmation yet from the Iga Idunganran palace of the royal father, many Lagosians opined that, “if markets could be shut for Tinubu’s daughter’s installation, no one should be surprised to see them shut for the king’s birthday.”
