Lettergate: Obasanjo Has No Regrets About Writing To President Jonathan
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed he has no regrets over his letter to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The former President made this known in an interview with the BBC’s Audrey Brown at his foundation’s office in London.
When asked about the letter he wrote to president Jonathan, Obasanjo said “Other than that letter I won’t make any comment for now”.
He also deflected questions about his relationship with the PDP by saying, “my Letter says it all, for now”.
When questioned about what motivated him to write the president, he replied, “read that letter, the motivation is there”.
“The letter isn’t a letter of hostility but the letter is a national issue, if the president wants to talk to me on personal issue or relation, I’m in for that… Since that my letter we have talked to ourselves almost half a dozen times.”
Asked if he had any regrets about writing the letter, he answered: “Why should I regret ? You regret what you should have done that you failed to do and there’s no more time for you to do it – that’s what you regret in life. A letter that is timely that you should write and then you write, you shouldn’t regret it.”
