Court Orders INEC, PDP To Accept Andy Uba As Gov Candidate

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to accept the outcome of the primary election conducted by the Ejike Oguebego-led Anambra State PDP  which declared Senator Andy Uba as the party’s candidate for the 16 November governorship election in the state.
Justice H.A. Nganjiwa issued the order today following an originating summon filed by the Anambra State factional chairman of PDP, Ejike Oguebego.
The court also restrained INEC and the PDP from accepting the outcome of the primary election conducted by the Ken Emeakayi-led PDP, pending the hearing and determination of the motion for interlocutory injunction and motion to set aside the interim order the court issued on 6 August, 2013, on the same matter.
The case has been adjourned till Friday, 30 August.
The National Chairman of PDP, Bamangar Tukur, had on Monday declared Tony Nwoye as the party’s candidate for the November governorship election in Anambra State. He said the leadership will only recognise the primary election conducted by the chairman of the party in the state, Ken Emeakayi.
