London based Nigerian Student arrested for drug trafficking in Lagos …suspect says he was recruited to smuggle drugs into his school for a fee





Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have  arrested a 23-year-old student of Management Accounting, Waltham College, London,(names withheld) over alleged drug trafficking.
The student was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, when he tested positive to drug ingestion during the screening of passengers on an Arik flight to London.
Spokesman of the organisation said“The suspect has completed the excretion of all 92 pellets of substances that tested positive to cocaine weighing 1.535kg.
“The suspect was also found in possession of two tickets. He presented a valid Asky ticket from Lagos to Lome at the screening but during search, a valid Arik ticket from Lagos to London was recovered in his luggage.
“The Lome ticket was to divert attention from him but besides having multiple tickets, he also tested positive for drug ingestion,” the statement noted.
Investigations revealed  that the unidentified student was a student of Management Accounting at Waltham College, London, where he had lived since 2009.
“The suspect claimed he was recruited to smuggle drugs into  his school in London. He was promised N8.7 million with which he intended using to pay his tuition,’’ the statement added.
