I nearly lost my manhood during Nigeria’s Civil War – Obasanjo

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that he almost lost his manhood during the nation’s three-year civil war.
Obasanjo while speaking on Friday at a reception organized in his honour by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, revealed that shrapnel (metal fragment of a bullet or bomb) hit him around pelvic region at the war front.
The one-time Military Head of States who said he was lucky to have survived the injury, stressed that he had no regrets for tackling the Biafran soldiers, stating that it was a battle that had to be fought.
“I don’t have any regrets over some actions or decisions taken then, and I don’t have any apologies over that, because it was in the interest of all.”
The retired General further called on Nigerians to put the memory of the civil war behind and concentrate on the unity and growth of the country.
On the issue of military coup, Obasanjo said he never played a part in any military coup, adding that he only knew of such after it had taken place.
“I have never participated in any coup, I just sit down jeje (patiently) and they later get in touch with me,” he remarked.
