DR IFEANYI UBAH NOT ARRESTED‏

Contrary to reports published in certain media today, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah , the Managing Director of Capital Oil & Gas Industries Limited was not arrested by the EFCC. He honoured an invitation by the EFCC and was allowed to go home after volunteering a statement to a team of EFCC operatives investigating payments made to oil marketing companies under the Fuel Subsidy Scheme.

It will be recalled that the the Special Fraud Unit of the Police after investigating the complaint by the Aig-Imokhuede-led Presidential Committee that probed Fuel Subsidy paymenys to oil marketing companies, cleared Ifeanyi Ubh of all allegations. Ubah was also cleared by the Federal High Court when it quashed Ubah's indictment by the Presidential Committee on the ground that the Committee violated his human rights.

It is widely believed that the recent attempt by the EFCC to reopen the fuel subsidy investigation may be politically motivated, in order to truncate Ubah's quest to be the Governor of Anambra State in 2014.
