Ex-deputy governor among Obiano’s commissioners

Governor Willie Obiano:  nominates commissioners

Governor Willie Obiano of the eastern Nigerian state of Anambra on Tuesday nominated 19 commissioners and 10 special advisers for approval by the state house of assembly.
Among the nominees are Dr Chinedu Emeka, a former deputy governor in the administration of Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju. He is the Commissioner for Water and Public Utilities designate.
Two former commissioners in former governor Peter Obi’s administration, Mr Callistus Ilozumba and Mrs Azuka Okeke retained their portfolios in the Ministry of Works and Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs respectively.

Others are a former member of the Nigeria Football Association, Chief Tony Nnacheta, who is penciled as the Commissioner for Sports, as well as a professor of mass communication at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Kate Emenugha, who will occupy the education ministry.
Also nominated are Mr Chuddy Anah, as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Gringory Obi (Finance), Mrs Florence Chinwuba (Housing), Prof. Solomon Chukwu (Economic Planning and Budget), Ifeatu Onyejeme (Trade and Commerce) and Anthony Onyimah (Information).
The list also has Ricky Chukwumelu (Women Affairs), Chukwuma Mbonu (Transport), Mr Evaristus Ubah (Environment), Stella Onuorah (Land), Norbert Obi (Special Duties), Dr Josephat Akabuike (Health), Nnamdi Meko (Agriculture) and Osita Obinwankwo (Science and Technology).
The list of special advisers designate include Chief Martins Uzodike (Political Matters), Alex Ejesieme (Legal Counsel and Litigation), Anthonia Tabansi-Okoye (Special Duties), O.I. Udemba (Chieftaincy and Town Unions), and Amechi Okwume (Urban Development/Town Planning).
The others are Vivian Nwandu (MDGs), Amaka Ilobi (Public Works), Ngozi Okonkwo (IGR), Chief Chikodi Anagha (Security) and Onyekachukwu Ibezim (Youth Empowerment).
Reading the letter during plenary, the Speaker, Mrs Stella Nwaebili, said the assembly would ensure the speedy screening of the nominees to support the governor‘s quest to develop the state.
She constituted a four-member committee to screen the nominees and called on them to submit their curriculum vitae before April 10.
