Borno State Governor Attends Emir’s Burial With 150 Soldiers

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima yesterday attended slain Emir of Gwoza’s burial, amidst tight security. It was reported that over 150soldiers and few police men escorted the Governor to attend the burial ceremony.
It will be recalled that the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Shehu Mustapha Idris Timta was killed on his way to the burial of the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar, who died in a London hospital where he was undergoing cancer treatment.
The late Emir of Gwoza was murdered around 10am by Boko Haram men, and another Emir with him only managed to escape. Sadly, no Emir was able to attend his burial for the fear of being kidnapped or killed.
Governor Shettima, while addressing family and friends who attended the burial, battled to control his tears as he delivered his tribute and condolences. He described the late Shehu as “a man who spent better part of his reign preaching peace and tolerance.
“This is not a day for long speeches; it is a day of mourning of our late father and ruler. May Allah give us yet another monarch that will love his people in the manner the late Shehu Idrissa Timta did.
The late emir is survived by his centenarian mother, 28 children, 14 grandchildren and 14 siblings.
